No offense meant to you or BgThang (I'm sure his beer is great). And I'm not talking about any rules here, just my opinion... Do you remember a Texas BA who called himself hopsareoverrated? I haven't seen his posts in a while. It seems his sole purpose was to drink hoppy beers, then rate them poorly. He openly pointed out that he did not like hops. I found that to be disingenuous and wondered why he tortured himself with hoppy beers he obviously had no appreciation for . A few folks claimed he was doing it to just bring hoppy beers ratings down (as if one person could change things that much). It was actually pretty humorous. Anyway, you find Rodenbach too winey, whatever. That beer was, for many, the introduction to sours many years ago. It used to be even more sour until Palm toned things down. Some American brewed sours make Rodenbach seem quite mild sour-wise. I'm probably guilty of being a bit too nostalgic for that beer, even as I enjoy the bigness of American versions.

All is good. Enjoy your weekend.

No worries - it takes a lot more than that to offend me!

Personally, I dont rate beers at all (at least on BA). And I would never intentionally drink something I know I wouldn't like and then complain about it. That makes no sense.

I love sours - the more sour, the better (for example, I love Mother Funker, which apparently a lot of people think tastes like drinking lemon flavored vinegar). So when I found the Rodenbach in DFW a few months back, I was psyched to try it. It just doesn't quite do it for me, but that doesnt mean its not a good beer or that I dont plan on drinking that last bottle I have! :stuck_out_tongue:

    Cheers!

    Ken

HEHEHEHE hopsareoverated. It's funny you should bring that up. I went round and round with him. before his account was cancelled. It was over his DR6 purchase of a case then gave it like a 2 out 5 rating and wished he had not bought a case of it. The true hilariousness of it was DR6 was touted as a big ass over the tops hopped barleywine. It would have been one thing to say hey I didnt realize it was a hop agressive beer and while its not my stlye and I do not like it maybve someone would trade me for it, nope he went to bash it on the review and with a name like that was just ******ed. must of had a lower than a 100 IQ

Central Market Westgate apparently has bottles of Grand Cru now. Not sure the price since I heard second hand.

I will buy a case of Grand Cru the second I find it in San Antonio. I've been looking it for so long I want to hoard it.

Then I'll make all my friends drink some, so they'll know what I've been raving about for the past five years.

I'm pretty sure it was $9 yesterday at Spec's (Brodie) with Rodenbach Red being $7.
