while the hype train is still chuggin'... have any of you tried this years? heard a mixed reaction from a friend and curious to hear from others. he's claiming a lot of flavor from the actual oak barrel as opposed to the bourbon. yes, i know... maybe a year on it will...

 

I just watched 'em bring 3 cases of Parabola into BevMo Santa Clara

 

Ramirez Liquor (Pico Store) just got some Parabola and Cantilion Rose today.

It's very tasty, but its also got a pretty significant alcohol burn that I'm hoping will age out. I liked last year's better, but I also didn't get any of it until almost 8 months after it released from the brewery.

The recipe itself is tweaked every year, but its all the same base recipe; the real variation in flavor comes from the barrels they use and the blend they end up with and they used some different barrels to source the beer this year. I personally am going to sit on it for several months before I even consider opening another.

Just got home from Mr. Kegs in HB. They had a few. 2 bottle limit.

 

Mr K's, think that's the name, right by the Bruery had about 5 left after I bought mine today around 3pm. No limit.

 

WOO HOO! Parabola at Costco in Santa Maria for $10.99!!!!!!!!!!!

No mistake. I spoke with FW. It was a "favor". Santa Maria only. 10 cases.

 

Same price as last year when they popped up at certain Costco's. Same price Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa was charging last year as well.

 

At 10.99, that hot mess might just be about the right price.

Had two glasses on tap at Yard House, which of course uses FW for their 'house' beers. While I was sitting at the table they had to change the keg out. Yes, it is a bit "hot" right now.

On the other hand, stopped by Handles in Pleasanton and had another glass of 16th Anniversary and it finally tasted a bit more flavorful than I recall.

 

I will confirm from my bottle I had Saturday. it's hot, and not quite up to Parabola standards. I now regret buying 4 bottles...haha. Two would of been good.

 

They might be pretty good after sitting a while - just hide them in the back of the closet.

I had my first bottle of it after being pretty loaded, so I didn't notice the "hotness" at the time. It was just its usual smooth self, and pretty tasty. I drinks from the second bottle by themselves, and I noticed a *lot* of alcohol and not as much flavor as usual.
