I bought my sixer a little over a year ago at 20 bucks a bottle. Fresh, that beer is amazing. Slightly sour, complex, superb. Best in the world...no. It mellows with age. It's good now but I'd drink it fresh everyday if it always tasted like it did when I first tried it. It's definitely worth seeking out.

I paid quite a bit for a bottle before I had had it. Now that I've had it, I wouldn't pay more than a few euros. I find it to be on par with St. Bernardus 12 which runs about 3 euros a bottle here, so I'd say about 3 - 4 euros.

I think it's better then Bernardus 12. abt 12 has this kind of metal aftertaste. I love metal but not in my beer .

If I would never have had a WestVleteren 12 I would pay max. 3-4 euro for it.

Because the total cost would then be much higher, unless you speak of in person trading.

Fair enough, and I paid about 15 euros for my first bottle which was very good, but I can't justify that price again when there are other much options that are cheaper and, at least to me, around the same quality. So I probably won't be drinking much more Westy.

I recently picked up 2 crates of westy at the abbey so I can get it quite cheap. I really love this beer but Im still not sure if it's better then rochefort 10. Should do a tasting. But nevertheless Rochefort 10 is actually more expensive then Westy 12. overall it's a very good beer but I dont think it is the best beer in the world. But it is top 2 in it's style!

15 euro is a lot for 33cl of beer  I would never pay that much or it should be a 750ml bottle.

Shelton Bros.Importers brought in Westvletern "bricks" - six-pack plus glass - last year (though they did not ship to every state) and they had a suggested retail price of $85.

Plus, it used to be imported into the US with a different label (probably against the wishes of St Sixtus but it happened). It sold for about $8 per 11.2oz bottle in the shops I found it at in 2005.

The first time I tried Westy 12 it cost me $10 AT A BAR!! Hopleaf in Chicago, also 2005.

I had a bottle @ $15. In my opinion, it wasn't that big of a deal. It's certainly a solid beer, but I think there's a halo effect because of it's limited distribution. I would love to have more of it, but now that the mystery is gone, I'm not willing to pay that much for it.

$20, and I've had it probably about 5 times, and I still have some cellaring. It's worth at least that.

Back in 1999 or 2000 I used to be able to find Westy 8 and 12 in one of my well stocked liquor stores. Back then I believe I bought a few of both for around 8 or 10 bucks. Since I have had it before, probably go as high as 8 now. Even then it would be rare that I would even think about purchasing it.

I'd spend $25 since I've never had it. I'm content with my $8 Rochefort 10.

Since I've never had it, I would probably pay whatever they were charging for it (within reason).

So I take it no one got one of the bricks that were sold at the end of last year? not looking at the goblets it worked out to like $14ish per bottle. I bought one brick and split it with a friend, BIF'd one to another friend, and have one glass and two bottles left. The friend that I split it with opened one when we bought it and we split one of his bottles. Based off of that I would like to be able to buy more and pay $12ish a bottle and not get the goblets.

I've had it and can tell you Rochefort and Bernardus are every bit as good as Westy 12. So, I wouldn't pay more than $8-10 for a bottle of Westy 12.

It depends on if you're the buyer or the seller.
