    Hi everyone,

I am heading to London for a week soon. Days will be full with work but the evenings are all mine.

Would welcome any suggestions for pubs and bottle shops, must-try brews, etc....

i will be working in Waterloo and staying just across the river.

    Thanks in advance.

Nah - they moved it to northern France last April to save some money!

Ah, we charge the French the whole of the cost of rents in London and Britain will be an economic superpower again.

Shocked no one mentioned craft beer co or the kernel. Id say easily top 2 places.

"Days full of work" - meaning the Kernel is out of bounds. And I'm guessing few responses in general here due to all the other threads on what to do in London.

Any pub in London that sells a burger and pint for £4.99 is a good place to get a decent beer. These pubs are not as few and far between as one would suspect

You might have to broaden your definition of "decent" though

I assumed you were referring to how pretty much every pub in the country does that.

Others do it too, it just depends on the pub/pub chain. Some even do a free drink with any kind of meal.

Probably something like 15% of pubs in the U.K. (probably about 35% of Manchester pubs) giving you the choice of Fosters, John Smith Smooth, Strongbow, Guinness Extra Cod or Stella for draught beers.

Then there are still quite a few places that have the token handpump with no knowledge or inclination to learn resulting in beer served through dirty lines for that vinegary touch or cleaning fluid not flushed for that lovely hint of harsh chemical, though these places are getting less you also have to factor in pubs with very unnervingly varying cellarmanship meaning one day/week a great pint and another a bad 'un (like my nearest pub)

With these elements of our Public Houses and also prices though not my favourite or first choice
I have to grudgingly admit to not entirely disliking 'Spoons

Drinking in a Wetherspoons makes me sad about human existence.
