As much as I agree that we should stick to beer talk, I am compelled to point out that there are zero relevant records via the U.S. PTO's Trademark Electronic Search System for "scurvy". Granted, I may not know how trademarks work so if anyone knows an attorney in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, that would be great.

Also, can we see a beer one day called Fiery Carnage? That would be a great name.

Once you use your mark in interstate commerce you have trademark rights for that mark.

IMO i would find it hard to find a person that regularly purchased beer could ever misplace a Pipeworks label form other brands.(they are awesome btw) It is not like you are distro to WI. little fluctuations in names happens in craft industry. the simple fact that you are using the name scuvy and both are IPA's seems kinda odd that a brewery would be so upset.
I just checked Merriam webster dictionary for the word scurvy and there was no reference to tyranena brewery. funny with making so much of a stink and they dont even associated with the word.

I wonder if surly and three floyds are in dispute for darkness v darklord. they each are stouts with the word "dark" in their title.

Surprised no one has mentioned that tyranena's beer's stink like skunks. (jk Stacey, congrats on the promotion)

I always appreciate how PW communicates to us on this thread. Makes me feel like one of the gang, like I finally BELONG.

But seriously, I think the reason that you guys are successful is that us normal folk get a peak thru the exoskeleton of the company, so we laugh, cry, and boogy woogy right there with you guys. We can see that it really is just few folks workin' their fanny's off to get the job done. Oh and you make awesome, ballsy, experimental beers.

To be fair, both would probably have little protection as the word "dark" as applied to imperial stouts is merely descriptive.

Anyways, what's everyone think of that Murderous Barleywine?

drank one last night. a bit hoppier than I was expecting but went down quicker than I expected as well! Some nice toffee malt notes in there. Reminded me of a less boozy, less sweet bolt cutter.

good representation of what i think an english barleywine is. booze is well hidden by malty sweetness. subdued hop character compared to PW usual offerings. look at that deep mahogany!

    May 8, 2013 Update

This week brings us fresh batches of Unicorn's Revenge Imperial IPA & CA$H 4 Golden Ale.

They are both available now at Binny's Lincoln Park. Kristina is out of town and we're not sure when we'll get Revenge to WLV, but every FwB is okay to pick up at Binny's Lincoln Park this week.

Also, Strong Mike, our recent hire, is answering all questions on our Facebook page and going through our several month long backlog to catch up. He'll be doing the same for our BeerAdvocate account and all our various e-mail accounts. So hopefully we've solved that problem.

We're installing the new brewhouse this week and we're anxious to say the least... keep your fingers crossed...

I think the only way to clear this matter up is for both brewers to bring kegs of each of these beers to a neutral bar and have a TASTE-OFF. Rights to the name Scurvy goes to the beer that drains their keg first. And this ain't Nam, there will be rules.
