Where can I find Pannepot?

I saw some a couple months back at Gordon's in Waltham. Give them a call though. This was a little bit ago.

 

I believe Craft Beer Cellar has the 2011 vintage right now

 

It seems like 2011 is the only vintage around, no?

 

Perhaps the most common year, yes. I know I've seen other vintages - I think at Julios. I know you said that was too far.

 

I remember fishing around Berman's back room and seeing a bunch. Underneath their shelves they have (or used to) a bunch of cardboard boxes with a variety of random beers collecting dust. Looked like they had been there awhile, so could be older vintage.

 

Redstone often has Pannepot as well.

 

2011 is the vintage that just came into the country. That's what we can all get our hands on right now

 

I would recommend going to the Festival in Portland. Struise was there last year with Pannepot, Reserva and Grand Reserva. I would say it was a life changing experience. Of course that was in Worcester, and while I went, I felt like it was far but worth it.

 

Is there a reason it's held for two years?

 

I was listening to an interview with Urbain on The Shelton Brothers High & Mighty Beer Podcast, he said they age it for two years to let the flavors meld and to let the alcohol calm down.

We are getting 2010 Pannepot Reserva in on Friday, so I guess with the barrel aging that adds on another year of aging before release. We just did a tasting with Shelton Brothers last week and they brought 2005 Gran Reserva, holy god that was tasting nice.

 

That Gran Reserva from 2005 is a onetime release isn't it? I have some bottles in my other house, but don't remember all the details from the bottle about in this barrel and then that barrel or something.

OP - Gordon's in Waltham might still have some. I could swear I saw it there last week, but I was in a few beer stores in a few states so might be confused.

Yep - I picked up a bottle of 2011 at Redstone yesterday. There were a few left on the shelf.

 

Downtown W&S in Somerville should have it.

 

Pannepot is semi-regularly stocked by most of the better craft stores. Definitely not a tough get. Also easily ordered online from overseas, so if you want a huge amount, you can save a few bucks.
