Steel Rail is easily my least favorite BBC beer. Too thin, too sweet. If they put Lost Sailor in cans, we'd be talking.

Im totally crushed about having no O-fest. Its one of my absolute favorites. They arent making the Hefe either.

Czech Pils in cans would be a game changer for my summer beer purchases. Lets hope Steel Rail sells well so they start canning other beers.

Czech please. If it tastes just as good as when it is made at BBC, I'd buy a shit ton.

Yeah, it's one of the better American made Oktoberfests, kind of an odd choice to kill off IMO.

And why Steel Rail? Practically every brewery in New England has an (I)PA in cans these days. Can the seasonals, or a porter maybe, but do something different...

I believe Steel Rail is BBC's best seller. I love it, though it may not get alot of cred around BA. Pre-packaged growlers are an even better deal than their reasonably priced bombers.

Won't miss the Hefe personally but will miss the Ofest, a good US-made example.

I would have guessed Cofeehouse Porter to be their best seller... it's definitely what I have seen the most of on tap over the years. I don't hate Steel Rail, it's just that the (I)PA can market is so super saturated.

From what I hear, Berkshire's got something up they're sleeve that will make you forget about those two...
IMO, their O-fest was a misinterpretation of the style...but I'm a traditionalist when it comes to my favorite style.

I definitely agree on the misinterpretation.
But is still tasty as hell in its own way? Hell Yes!

I agree - I just can't drink 3 or 4 liters of it. I put the Maibock in the same category (i.e. kinda too sweet for its style) but it really comes around after about a year of age on it.

really like the ofest. maibock i wouldn't say no to, but i wouldn't buy/order it over most things.

Wow I never thought of aging the Maibock a year. Kinda interested to try that...otherwise it's one of my least fav's of theirs because, like you said, it's just so sweet. I think I had the same problem with their River ale.

If their RIS and Coffeehouse Porter were in cans, that'd be awesome!

My informant enlightened me on this...he or she currently has a keg of last year's batch on-tap in their kegerator.

I was talking to one of the brewers once about how much I liked one of their one-off specials and hoped it would come back, and he said that while he'd personally love to they're flat out just getting the mass quantities of Steel Rail they sell out the door.

Pretty much every BBC beer is too sweet for me. They're all just so. malt. heavy. It's a nice change of pace sometimes, and I looooove their tour, but I don't make a habit of drinking much BBC.
