Staying in downtown Chicago (near miracle mile) for a few days. Are there any good beer bars right downtown? I have been to all the must visit places in the north side neighborhoods but I'd love to grab a beer or two without having to go too far.

    Thanks!

It's called the "Magnificent Mile", or "Mag Mile".

Check beermapping.com it will help you since locations are on a map.

    Way to be helpful, taxman.

OP, there's not a ton great downtown, but pretty close to you are Miller's Pub, Monk's Pub, and State and Lake. They generally have at least decent offerings. There's also a place (called Watershed, I think) that's downstairs from Pop's For Champagne. Haven't been there in a bit, but I remember it being pretty okay.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as an arrogant bastard.

Not real familiar with bars in that area. Depending on where you're staying, a short cab ride to the Binny's South Loop. They usually have a good tap list.

Howells & Hood @ Tribune Tower. 150 taps (x2 sections for 300 total), huge patio, great food. Stat!

I agree here. If you're on the Mag Mile....go to Howells! I work right around the corner. We frequent this joint....not much for craft beer in the loop except for this joint. Also check out Monk's Pub if you can. It's on Lake and Wells.

Ah yes Magnificent Mile, mixed it up with a little strip mall in MN. I'll have to make it to Howell's!

Take a cab out to Lincoln Park for Local Option, Atlas Brewing, and Goose Island Clybourn. Haymarket isn't too far from where you're staying. If you have time, Revolution and Map Room are near each other. Hopleaf and Fountainhead are great beer bars, too.

For bottles, go to Binnys Suth Loop. They have taps, too. West Lakeview Liquors has really good bottles but I like Binnys.

    Enjoy your visit!

Not sure where exactly you are, but theres a place called Timothy O'Tools at Fairbanks and Ontario. Good food, and usually a good tap list, plus some good bottles. Usually have a Three Floyds beer or two on tap, some more bottle offerings, and all sorts of other good stuff.
