There are 2 batches of Funk to date. Batch 2 was a mix of gold crowns and the new jester crowns.

I have one with a plain gold from the initial release and I got 2 from Stanley's at the 2nd Anny party, which would have to be Batch 2 since both have the new crowns.

    Thanks, guys.

Ah, for some reason I thought the ones with the new caps were a new (third) batch.

That's correct. Sorry again for the confusion. We have everything batch/blend numbered and dated as of January of this year.

When will the next batch of RU-55 come out?

We tasted most of the barrels last month. Based on the results, we estimate that we have enough mature RU55 to make a bottling run this summer. So I'd say late summer/early fall will be the time the next batch comes out.

I'm crazy about Le Petit Prince and Noble King. Been too long since I've had Commerical Suicide/Mad Meg/Wytchmaker (haven't had the farmhouse version but liked previous version) to say much, Black Metal is nice but stouts aren't normally what I'm into.
Seriously though, Le Petit especially is a very underrated beer. I think it's absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the last bottle I had of Noble King a couple weeks ago. Both are phenomenally balanced beers, but still really unique flavors from JK's house yeast.

When I go to Boston, I'm looking out for Brassiere Thiriez's beer so I can get a better idea of the house yeast Jester King uses. I believe Jeff said Thiriez was like their sister brewery.

First batch Funk Metal also has a sticker over the SKU (unless you got it from D&Q)

Not entirely true... Lots of places are small enough and took care of the upc issue themselves.

I believe Jeff said they were going to make more Thrash Metal late Summer/Fall.

Is there still Thrash at Rosedale Market? They seem to have a never-ending supply, lol.

I don't do Rosedale because recalled Boulevard Chocolate and fuck them.

ETA: vintage Boulevard Chocolate at the next tasting!

I know we'll revisit Thrash Metal at some point, but it's not on our brewing calendar which currently goes through July.

Enjoying a Censored (Salt Lick) right now. Really enjoying it. First smoky beer. Cant wait for the day I take a few of these bottles to Salt Lick for some ribs and sausage. I will then die happy!

Soooo. Jester King is sending kegs to this event then? http://houstonbeerfestival.com/#!beer Keep in mind this is the same festival put on previously that was a huge disaster, safety risk, and put forth a terrible reputation for craft beer. I mean really, beer pong and the like? Take that crap back to college. Or make it actually interesting and play it with Chocolate Rain. :sunglasses:

I'm not excited for Jester King to be associated with these buffoons. I am not sure if you were aware of this information, Jeff, but I feel like someone should bring it to your attention if you were not. I have half a mind to contact other breweries sending kegs and ask them to re-consider as I don't consider this event to be advocating craft beer. I feel like looking through the list anyways, a very "meh" selection of beers being served, and quite a bit seemed to be the non-craft guys anyways. AKA: "Crafty" beer.

I attended Texas Beer Fest in Houston last year was excellent. I thought it was tastefully done and had a great turnout in terms of craft breweries and food vendors.

    /rant

Edit: As a final rib on the "fest": Black Metal is listed as the style, Belgian Strong Pale Ale.
