For those that don't follow them in the fb/twitter world ... Two Roads is about to release cans of the White IPA and Pils as well as 16-ozers of their Hefeweissen ... Nice to have some increased can options for the summer ...

Went to the Semi-tap takeover at My Place last night for CT beer week. The Oak Aged Dopplebock was actually pretty tasty and Igor's seemed a lot better than when I tried it on draft the day of release. Also had some of the pale ale that was brought in in growlers. Was a little watery, but tasty at the sametime.

I did find it funny that the beers seemed to be cheaper on draft at My Place than at the actual brewery though...

Spent a lot of time in Newtown when I was younger though.

Ha! That's cool. I like to go out in Bethel every once in awhile. Decent beer scene for what it is.

Wrong thread to discuss, but do you go to Greenwoods? I've noticed them stepping up the tap selection lately. I hadn't been there in a long time and when I went it was nice to see. The food is still so-so.

Greenwoods became better a few years ago actually. Has it gotten even better recently?

I've been a customer there for 20 years, must be three owners maybe four in that time. When it reopened a few years ago it was good, then the food rapidly declined and got expensive. I gave them chance after chance and finally gave up on trying to eat there about 2 years ago. Beer was ok. Recently went back, food was passable, not great, but the tap list expanded to around 20 offerings, so very solid. Two Roads did an event there a few months ago. Can't beat the patio in the summer.

Had the Two Roads Hefe and Maibock at Coalhouse Pizza today. Now very much looking forward to the Hefe in 16 oz cans. Hopefully these make it down Fairfield County.

Was in Coalhouse on Monday and they had their tap lines messed up. We ordered the Hefe and got served some kind of amber ale. By the time we left they had gotten on the horn with their boss and figured things out. The Maibock was good but the Hefe is fantastic. I can't wait to pick up some cans.

what's the hefe taste like? (i checked for reviews but there aren't any) lots of citrus? lots of yeast? bready? is it dry or creamy/sweet? is it sweet in general, or does it have that sort of rainforest moist/dry/not-sweet-at-all-ness of some pale belgians / german-or-belgian wheat beers? spicy / clove-like? boozy or well hidden alcohol (ABV?)?

6.5% per the menu at Coalhouse and I didn't taste any of that ABV. I had it as part of a flight so don't have a full pint impression. That said, I would put it in the German style, less banana than a typical Hefe. More yeasty and bready than citrus as I recall. I am not someone who reviews regularly, I just know what I like and that was good.

I agree with EDNOSE's assessment. The guys at Two Roads have a very European brewing pedigree and have made this beer true to German style.

Just to update on the Hefe ... The second time I had it at Coalhouse the menu said 5% which seems more correct after having a full pint. Description from the Two Roads site below. Definitely hoping to find this in cans when it comes out, still like it a lot after a full pour.

Brewmaster Phil Markowski has taken a “bahn” less traveled to create our version of the classic Bavarian wheat brew –perfect for the warming temperatures. Beautifully cloudy with a generous head of foam, a wonderful fruit aroma and a dry finish, our Hefeweizen is a refreshing version of the original; with just a little bit more of everything.

ok, stupid question, but what exactly is the base beer? a stout? anyway, it's cool to see them doing some more releases lately.
