In comparison to the other big stouts, where does Barrel Aged Speedway fall in terms of difficulty to obtain? It is harder to get than CBS? How about Hunahpu? Rum Barrel Hunahpu? Just curious.

    Harder than: CBS, Hunahpu
    Easier than: Rum Barrel Hunahpu

    Any other questions?

Those were just arbitrary selections, but that gives me enough of an idea of its value. Thanks!

    I think the most recent bottlings have been 2009, 2007, 2006, 2004, 2003 and 2002.

The last release was around 1,000 bottles. The first (was it) 300 in line got 2 each, after that it was 1 per person? So not a lot of people ended up with multiple bottles.

First release to my knowledge to feature homeless mules at the start of the queue.

'07 had just under 450 bottles. '06 pretty well half that again.

He is spot on on that.
Much, much harder than CBS as it went into distribution.
last release went nuts as some people were able to get two bottles and others only got one. Near 1000 released a year ago.
The one BA stout you do not see a lot of FT's for or ISO's for

I noticed it doesn't pop up much as an ISO, it makes sense to not see it very often as a FT, but why aren't more people asking it ISO? That's a very small number of bottles for sure, but it doesn't seem to have the hype that many of the other big stouts (including CBS) have.

BA Speedway doesn't have the hype, it has a pedigree. CBS was newfangled and exciting, but BA Speedway is bonafide.

I meant the lack of hype as a good thing. As in, "maybe it's easier to obtain since its doesn't have a ridiculous hype surrounding it". Either way, it's very high on my want list, but I think it will take me quite some time to gather the ammo to trade for it.

Also you must not have been around the trading forums when it was released last. Soooo many pretrades were set up only to be unfulfilled. I was very tempted to go but more than glad that I didn't. It just seemed like the biggest cluster for one bottle of beer.

Probably because people know it's not as good as the asking price for it.

Ba Speedway has quite a pedigree but its one that has slipped the last 2 releases. The ISOs dropped off as the scores started to drop off... Bottle reviews for the 2009 vintage seem to average closer to 4 than 4.5 while the older vintage reviews average much higher

Correct. The original press release announced 4 bottles per person, then when they saw the crowd it was lowered to 2 bottles, by the time I got to the front of the line it was 1 bottle. I had pre-trades set up that I obviously couldn't fulfill, this was my first experience like this and it was horrible. Given the times I longer set up any pre-trades, only when I have the beer in hand. It caused a lot of people to not trade since only having one and the people that got 2 were reluctant to trade as well.

Also, the fact that BA Speedway has been released almost every year since 2002 means that a good number of people have gotten to try it and now don't really see the need to trade for it again. The reason why not a lot are FT is also because most people didn't have lots to trade. There are cats that got 5 or 6 CBS just from running to a couple stores or going to the release, but unless you brought several mules that were willing to wait 4 hours in line, there wasn't much chance of getting that many BA Speedway, so the number of available bottles for trade are definitely less.
