Nope, it had a distinct burn to the tongue. It was nice and bold hellfighter without the same overwhelming smooth bourbony that 003 had fresh. Now 003 is top notch.

I wish I had more 003, I only have 1 left sadly. I drank a whole 005 to myself a few days ago and didn't get much bourbon at all. I thought it was ready to go right now. Just my opinion of course.

I see what you're saying. The bourbon was there for me but I could give mine much more time to smooth out with the HF.

Tried the 005 for the first time this weekend (never having had any Hellfighter before). I wasnt impressed. I hear the 003 is much better, so maybe need to try to get one of those instead, as well as the cherry. It wasnt a bad beer, but just didnt stand out in any way (of course we had it next to Parabola, Hunahpu and B.O.R.I.S., so it probably wasnt a fair point of comparison)

Dewd I was just by Star Pizza about an hour ago. Would have totally gone there if I knew they still had some.

I lied about BB Hellfighter earlier. 003 did not impress me. Even my mom thought it was gross, and she'll drink the occasional hoppy DIPA with me. I get the impression it was better fresh.

I got a 003 with your name on it. Good amount of barrel in it.

You know, when I did a Bodacious then BBH 003 a couple of weeks ago, I definitely thought Bodacious kicked BBH 03's ass. It may have been how that BBH 003 was aged, all of mine have been aged in a cooler at 55. However, I did come across two different BBH 003 at later times through trade and my Kroger guy months later. The BBH 003 I had the other night was f'n phenomenal and must have been one of mine that were sitting aged at 55F since purchased at HEB in January.

Very true. I have no idea how it was stored prior.

Yep, I think the bottle of 003 even states that it must be stored/aged at the right setting. I tweeted them back in Jan and they said dark/55F was right on.

Hellfighter 003 was very good fresh. The 005 has to sit for 3 months or so. It is too hot. It needs to be treated just like the regular Hellfighter and sit for awhile. Regular Hellfighter becomes silky smooth, rather than alcohol burn, and the chocolate comes to the fore.
