    Thoughts on the 'good' bottleshops.

    The Best:
due to rotation and cold storage:
    Olive Tree Market in OB
Bine & Vine in Normal Heights
    Pizza Port Bottleshop, Carlsbad
    KnB in Del Cerro
    Best Damn Beer Shop, Downtown
    Holiday Wine Cellers, Escondido

    The worst:
Warm storage of IPA's and other beers that should be kept cold
    #1 offender: Beverages-4-Less in Santee
Bevmo: all of 'em, you have no idea how long your delicate beers have been sitting warm
Bottlecraft, Little Italy (although they're new, they need a lot more cold storage)
Clems in Kensington, way too many beers sitting warm and his prices are higher than Bine & Vine which is a mile or so away.

Thanks everyone. Stocked up nicely. Stayed close to town and based out of Ocean Beach. Olive Tree had great selection of fresh beers close to me with Pliney bottled 4/2. Stong recommend. Nice beer! Liked this store. Best Damn had the best selection I've seen. LOTS of stuff. Both had great helpful staff that knew their beer. Had to make the exedous up into the mountans to Alpine though. Couldnt find em anywhere in town. Hit up the Neighborhood, Toronado and OB Pizza Port. Drank lots of alesmith, Pizza Port and Alpine. OB Pizza Port has BB Mirror Mirror -- very special treat. You guys make and get outstanding beer in this region. Thanks all for the help.

Try Fullers near Old Town Transit Center, too. Total ghetto shithole location - but solid selection. Bought 9 bottles of RR D23 last visit.

As to Alpine, Beverages 4 less carries all of them, in the cooler, so MacNCheese should approve. Save you an extra 25 miles.

Bev-4-Less can suck it. Just go to Alpine where the bottles will be cheaper and you can enjoy a fresh pint on tap.

The bottles are the same price as sold in the brewpub.

I always wondered if this place had any decent beer, but I've been too scared to actually stop in...

lol - take a driver who stays in the car with the engine running!

They have a lot of great stuff. Always fresh PtE, all the other RR's that make distribution, tons of great Belgians etc... check it out sometime.
