Why would it be? There was a large amount of all of those. Way too large for them to be able to sell them all at the brewery. Please stop with the paranoia.

Jeff said around 200 cases, which is about what all the limiteds are, and when those come out they're not hard to come by the first few days. I agree, let's all take a deep breath. Also might be a good time to lock this one down and start another thread.

Was so close to snagging a Vigneronne about 1.5 weeks ago. Ugh. Literally like 15 seconds too late.

It was just a question. I'm not paranoid by any means. More for clarification purposes.

I'm in for the share June 1st. I haven't been to JK / Stanley's in a month, so I guess I'm due for a trip.

I think you missed the point. the limited stuff churns through very quickly in retail, and is quick easy money. no more limited stuff, less money for the store coming in. simple math. But as has been previously stated, it is like this in other states, and texas is just behind the time.

Right, and because we had to deal with the system we had, there are stores that were basically set up to sell craft beer, and that make a lot of their money on the limited releases. No one is going to be rushing from out of area to Sunrise or E1G or those types of places if all they have is what's available at every other store as well. The reality is that the transition to the new system and new laws will financially hurt some places that have positioned themselves as places to get unique craft beer, and often to get it first.

I know a brewer who plans on doing a brewery releases and in store releases on the same day. For instance, a beer that has had fruit added, cherry at the brewery and blueberry in stores.

We'll be fine, most just don't deal with change well. I hope other brewers will throw a bone retail's way similar to how the Saint Arnolds Bishops Barrel releases are for the most part.

Yeah, its just growing pains. Any change is hard, and hopefully brewers will help with the transition

No it isn't like this in other states.
HOTD and Upright in Oregon, Three Floyds and Upland in Indiana, Allagash in Maine, HF in Vermont, Lost Abby and Kern River in California, Jackie O's and Great Lakes in Ohio, Captain Lawrence and Ithaca (at least they used to with Lebleu) in New York, New Glarus in Wisconsin, Cigar City in Florida, Avery, Crooked Stave and A.C. Golden in Colorado and many more breweries sell their limited stuff at their brewery. It's a fun way for the brewery to host a event, meet new people and give a chance for people to see the inner workings of a brewery.

I understand your concerns about no limited releases equaling less money but realistically we're talking about a very small amount of beer. Also keep in mind I'm talking about the really limited stuff, we will still see JK distro Boxer's Revenge, Das Wunderkid, Funk Metal and whatever else they want and those are BA goodies that people will go to the stores to buy, therefore supporting our awesome neighborhood beer stores. So far the only confirmed beers they're talking about releasing at the brewery is Viking Metal and the Raspberry Sour.

On top of this, you have 2,000 lurkers on here waiting for word to when and where the next BAR (big awesome release) is happening, and as a result you have random people waltzing in various stores buying up the limited releases leaving the store's "regulars" feeling shafted when they find out that there isn't any left. This of course leads to secret lists, people following delivery trucks and employees calling dibs on beer. This all cumulates back to my original point that this method just leads to more butthurt for everyone involved- people upset at lurkers, at the store and ultimately at the brewery.

So what you're saying is we need to never post BAR's locations and instead text each other instead.

Me and a few other Austin people definitely don't post where every release is in Austin just because as soon as lurkers find out, they gobble it up.

BM moar for hassle free shopping!
