    Meh, that's a good point.

Their rare beer list is pretty lame and the prices are worse. On the flip side whenever I'm out anywhere close I stop in. They always have some cool beers that aren't available in Spokane. Also the only local place I've ever seen with 3F on the shelves.

For current beers the prices aren't too bad.

Their prices are a bit steep, but considering that you would have to know how to trade to get lower prices as most of those items are not available anymore, it makes sense. I always inventory every store to know who is cheapest. I go there as a last option or for rare things i cannot get other places. They are the only place in the area who sometimes has fantome and cantillon for instance..

I love Odell, but the chances of that BBS being carbonated well is very slim.

Friek is great, and I think the 2011 is the one they won a gold medal for, I have paid $25+ at a fine restaurant for a great beer, so I think I might be into that one.

It is weird though, Odell does not distribute to Washington....

I agree. I go to "shmenoteca" solely for Odell a lot of times. I am actually in Tucson right now and Odell is everywhere. It's awesome.

Right, but you could get Abyss on the shelf up to a month ago for $14-$15. Don't get me wrong, they do have stuff no one else does and I do like to look at their shop, but those prices and the hype just rub me wrong(extremely rare 2010 bigfoot!).
And now you have to join their forum, post in the forum and make semi-regular purchases to be notified of special releases that come in, no more email notification...WTF?

Whatever, they can run it however they like and I can choose not to shop there if I don't like it, I just shared the list for entertainment value.

I don't feel like the prices and practices there are quite worthy of a good ol' online bashing, so I won't join in too enthusiastically.

I will say it's pretty easy for a seasoned beer geek to be turned off by lists like that, but it's probably not that way for people just getting into craft beer or only casually interested.

The bold part above could almost read "people that don't know any better".

Yeah, I guess I am just "turned off" by it.

Depends on the vintage and size. Any 40s over two years old are serious white whales!

I'm down. Why pay $1.99 when you could pay $6.50?

Basically, these guys know what they have and they know someone out there will eventually pull the trigger on something. Sadly, they have no love for the hobby or craft and think only in profits...

That's why I only go there on occaision and limit myself to a spending limit and to what I'm not going to find anywhere else.

Muy expensive. But at least they have the sense to put most IPA/IIPAs in their coolers...and plus the eats next door are pretty bomb in the casa blanca grill.

Oh and Odell's just started distro in ID. There have been a few distro events/tastings at local places with Odell. That being said, I was in a certain palouse college town's food co-op and they literally only had I single bottle of Myrcenary left. I bought.
