After a night consisting of this lovely beer, in addition to MBC lunch, Founders Double Trouble, and Smuttynose IPA, I can say that without a doubt Hoptimum blew everything out of the water. Head and shoulders above all these guys, no question. SN really has something fantastic going with this one. Probably my favorite DIPA release of 2013.

We just got it on tap at my bar and I couldn't be happier. Oddly not many people seem to know SN makes it though. It's even more impressive since its first year (2011) was a real mess of a DIPA. Wish they made it year round.

Another big win in my book, and a great value too. For its price, availability and overall quality I'll take Hoptimum any day.

It's certainly in upstate NY. I got a couple of 4 packs in Plattsburgh the other day. Ask around a bit more.

Hoptimum is indeed an excuisite beer. Nothing but praise here for Sierra Nevada. On an OT note, I was drinking Widmer Hefe last night, and it was a hit amongst my people.

Sculpin is a great single. Hoptimum is a great double. I should have made a different reference, but for a limited release on beer that big, Hoptimum wins the value debate IMHO.
    Cheers!

This is a long, long weekend. A LOST weekend, if you will. Burgers and beer is the order of the day. Have a good one, brothers and sisters.

I love Hoptimum as well. If you don't mind me asking, how do you know it was bottled on May 1? Did the code on the bottle start with "3121....." ?

The stuff still sitting on the shelves around here (Tampa Bay Area) are March 26 (Code starts with "3085.....")

3085 code is all I can find around NorCal as well...
Ironic since their Chico brewery is but a few hours away. Would love to try some from May 1st!

The reason I was asking, was because of THIS post from a Sierra Nevada employee, posted on 5/8/13 stating they plan on making more... he never mentions they just released any later than the 3/26/13 bottling date

Like I mentioned in another thread I found 3 loose May 1 bottles at TW Arden. And there was maybe a couple more 4 paks of the 3085 code. Not sure if there is anymore there since I didn't ask.And BTW in the few times I have been to Total Wine noone has ever offered me any assistance.Just sayin

So was the code 3121 or 2122?

I guess I'm in the minority that just finds it to be a "very good" beer ... I don't jump up and down about it, but it's definitely a good beer.

    And DAT LABEL.

Sierra Nevada pretty much never lets me down. They are like a good friend...who makes beer for you and it tastes wonderful. Knowing they are there for me just makes me tingle and have goose pimples. aSPU-GeeT-AH!

The last 4 pack of Hoptimum I got last week from TW Arden was all 3085. From here on out I'll keep looking anywhere that has it but if it's 3085 it's gonna be a pass...
