    Hello!

I like Imperial Reds (and regular reds for that matter) that have strong caramel/toffee flavors. Do you have suggestions on some like that. My two favorites are G'Knight and Peak Organic King Crimson. <- Really a great great beer if you find some buy it!

Also, for the sake of conversation, please don't say Hop Head Red or Red Rocket. I have had both of those, enjoy both of those a lot, but am looking for something less mainstream but not overly rare.

    Thank you!

P.S. I like sweetness when it goes with a strong hop profile, so if you have ideas beyond Reds, I loved Firestone's 16 and would say that is the same sweetness, as an example. Thanks!

While it is not an imperial, Bolero Ragin' Bull is a great red ale. It's got a nice sweetness to it, not the metallic taste that sometimes accompanies reds.

Terrapin Big Hoppy Monster. Buy one fresh then give it about 9 months or so. Hops have faded (but are still there to a degree) and its a delicious, sweet beer thats similar to an English barleywine or old ale. Great stuff.

I'm confused by what you mean by "not mainstream". How is Bear Republic more mainstream than Oskar Blues?

Anyway, some answers to your question:

    - Founders Red's Rye (perhaps on the dry side relative to what you're looking for, but still solid)
    - Ithaca Cascazilla

Love that style, Lakefront Brewing Fixed Gear is decent but not as good as the ones you mentioned.

Beers I personally haven't tried but would have to imagine would fit what you are looking for would be Cigar City's Tocobaga and Troeg's Nugget Nectar. Based on what I have tried from Cigar City, I can't see how Tocobaga can't b great. And Nugget Nectar just sounds great and gets the love on this boards to support that.

This is probably not of any relevance, but a local brewery in Fort Collins, Equinox, has their 3rd Anniversary Ale on tap. Its a hoppy amber with a nice sweet, doughy, toffee and caramel malt foundation paired with some hops going right now that I think would be exactly what you are looking for. It was really quite good. If you have any trading partners in the area, might be worth seeing if you can work a trade with them for it (sorry, I don't trade).

Nosferatu!!! Also I saw Lakefront Fixed Gear on here but look out for Bridge Burner too, probably something you'd be interested in.

Nugget Nectar is an excellent beer and well-beloved by BAs across the mid-Atlantic region (and their trading partners) but I don't think it meets what the OP is looking for - it's hardly "toffee/caramel" flavored.

Nugget Nectar and Tocobaga are both great beers (especially Tocobaga), but IMO neither is particularly big on toffee/caramel/sweet notes. Particularly Nugget Nectar which to me is bordering on hop bomb.

Drink Tongue Buckler and you'll only be able to pick up sweet flavors from the other Ambers you drink that night.
