This still happens. Not too long ago I had two glasses of DDBA, a glass of FW 16, a glass of unfiltered cask DBA and came home two FW tulip glasses. Ran me well under $20 after the tips.

I've also had a local Bell's rep (also not too long ago) do the same for a couple pints and came home with a couple glasses, keychains, a pair of sunglasses and a longsleeve shirt.

Does paying more for a beer give you some smug satisfaction that you enjoy expensive beer?

I must say I do remember being at a FW event during a beer week event at Monks last year during beer week and there was some generous pours but must consider it was sort of an introduction since Tom had some special drafts on and he was bartending. Thanks for jarring the memory. Not a glassware fan much any more I have a over a 25yr accumulation as it is.

$5 pitcher night at maumee bay brew co was the best night of the week in college.
I also like going to places that have $3 pints of anything on tap. Got Alpha King last Friday.

Back in my twenties, we lived for Happy Hours. While living in Hollywood, FL during the 80's, they were huge, and had themes. Beat The Clock, first 15 minutes beers were 50 cents, next 15 minutes they were 75, and so on, back up to regular price. Nothing like walking back into the Florida sun around 6pm, blasted.
All they promoted was excessive drinking in short time periods, a bad mix IMO. Seeing how I no longer condone drunk driving, I'm against Happy Hour. Around here, pint nights, which I'm all for, are more about a particular brewer offering only their stuff at a slight discount to attract interest in their line, not so much about hammering cheap beer.

This thread < My Sanity. As a Craft beer focused bar owner, I fucking give up. This thread was my tipping point. First I'm constantly scrutinized for, god forbid, not giving full liter pours for any and all rarest of the rare... NOW I'm lessening your experience, inviting *****s no less, by discounting craft beer at a certain time? Fuck me, I'm going back to peddling Natty light. I quit. From now on at my establishment, Bud Light will poured into a HOME DEPOT Bucket for .50 cents while everything else will be $12.00 for a Monopoly-sized thimble pour.

    Cheers!

They get special glassware so you can tell them apart from the other patrons.

I have never once heard of anyone complain about these. If they do, they need to STFU and go elsewhere.

If I can drink quality beer at discounted prices, why would I be against that?

Please do not give up. It is in the makeup of many beer geeks, that I have come across, to have to complain about something. Charge too much they complain, discount the beer, hurt their feelings. You can't win.

I am sure your post was at least a bit sarcastic, but just in case, do not give in to the vocal minority.

I still get a chuckle that the OP stated, and I paraphrase, that the waitstaff may look down on him if he orders a discount beer.

3.00 mason jars at Keegan Ales on Thursday, with live music and no cover charge. Tell me again why I am supposed to feel guilty about enjoying this?

50 cent bucket 'o beer? Make it Coors light and you've got yourself a new customer.
