One of my favorite beers, ever.

World class beer. I do prefer Breakfast Stout by Founders.

As for others in the style, I still prefer Stone IRS and Ten Fidy.

Absolutely loved this beer, having it for the first time this year. Wouldn't change anything about it. I was so happy to find a bottle hiding in my basement when I did a little inventory; thought I gave my last one away!

A few months ago I was lucky enough to snag a 4-pk. from 2011...aged beautifully!

One of the best in the style, and incredibly drinkable for sure. Actually makes me want to swill one right now.

I had it for the first time this winter, and proceeded to buy four pack after four pack, which I rarely do and glas I did. One four pack left. Its top ten status, favorite beers of mine all time.

I have yet to try the FIS, but i have had a few Founders Expedition Stout and Breakfast Stout. I was very impressed by FES. The Breakfast stout was a bit of a let down, likely due to all the hype surrounding it.

Oops, meant Bell's Expedition Stout. Wrong appreciation thread.

A friend opened an 08 or 09 last year and it was just fantastic. It is a beer that is great fresh and transforms to other forms of greatness over time.

It is good! A friend conducted a 3 bottle blind taste test for me. All were imperial stouts. I voted Founders Imperial Stout as #1. Can't wait for January!

Had it for the first time this year and when I was done reviewing it, I was surprised to see that it garnered my highest review ever - and I've got over 1000 full reviews here on BA after reviewing beers for over 7 years. Then I had another and thought about my experience with Breakfast Stout (and Founders in general) and thought "Why am I surprised?" Then I went out and bought another 4-pack, and everyone I've shared it with since has had the same reaction: "This is a world-class stout."

I think the biggest noticeable change was from fresh to one year old. After having had a 1yr aged I only ever have one bottle fresh each year now. It's just too damned amazing to drink anymore of the limited supply I get fresh. For the OP; once you have one aged, you will never look back. Trade for and try one aged.

Same here. Luckily, there are still 4pks to be found around here pretty easily as well!

I've heard rumors of Founders and Bells coming to Cali in 2014. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I enjoy this beer but it feels like drinking straight chocolate to me. I wish it had more complexity as it sometimes tastes a bit one note to my taste buds...but I do like reaching for it when I want liquid desert.

This is the first year I’m attempting to age it. Really curious to see how I respond to it in a year.
