I been told its a 4 growler limit.

But I'm hoping that its just for busy times. I'm sure someone can clarify

They have a sign that says 5 growlers per trip through the line. My understanding that is 5 total fills (regardless if they are 2L or 750ml). That being said, in the many times I've been up there I have never seen that limit enforced. But I try not to go on Saturdays anymore which is when I am guessing it would likely come into play.

The limit is only enforced during high-traffic times (I.e. usually Fridays and Saturdays)

    Not entirely true.

I was there last Wednesday at noon, there was a long line and they enforced the limit. Perhaps if you went later in the day and there was no line they might cut you some slack.

I would not plan on get more than 5 because you never know when or what will cause a large volume of people at HF.

    2 x 2l
    4 x 750

so...thats six fills. I doubt they would have made me get back behind the 6-8 people for one more 750 though.

I was there on Thursday when they opened. Even though there were only 6 people in line at the time, they enforced the 5 growler limit. That was no biggie though, as you were permitted to go to the back of the line and come through for 5 more as often as you'd like. I think they're more concerned with making sure no one gets stuck behind that guy getting 50 growlers at once...which I totally agree with. I like the policy.

    Topical quote!
"They do allow some nervous crying, but you can tell they don't like it."

They'll fill it and charge you a price that's inbetween the two prices. But I've had them give me some grief about it for not fitting the tap easily and causing foam.

Yes, my verbiage wasn't clear apparently. Only when lots of people are waiting for growler fills (high traffic)... straight out of Phil's mouth.

Good lord. On a Wednesday? I really miss the golden days of waltzing in at 12:30 on a Saturday with an empty parking lot and one couple doing a tasting.

The week before a fest would be a bit different, I can only assume the festival was the cause for this.

aren't the 1L growlers (swingtops) the same size opening as the 750s?

Think it's more of a height issue, depending on the shape of the growler.

What are you suggesting here? Knowing his sterling reputation, I'm sure he purchased the growler limit and then went about his business.

Shaun Hill enforces growler limits that suit Shaun Hill. Those limits can evolve on the will & whim of said dear leader and no peon should question his wisdom. If you don't like it, move to Canada. They tend to welcome bullshit with open arms.
