Just guessing this is an old ale barrel aged.... The whole thing seems kinda gimmicky, but boy does gimmicky and rare taste good on BA :stuck_out_tongue:

won't knock it until i try it. or a bunch of BAs try it. (shrug)

p.s. for those that don't get the reference above, kentucky bourbon barrel ale is like the worst BBA beer around. comparing your new beer to it or playing off its name is like saying, "try our new beer! it's... well, it's alright. meh."

8.5% doesn't seem to quite be in old ale territory, though. Really hard to throw a comp on this just based on the description.

I agree, just can't think of an "ale" brewed with corn, that would be barrel aged... Oh well

Are you excluding a shit ton of sour beers when you say this?

Look at the list of old ales. There are quite a few around 5%.

BJCP classifies the old ale style as 6-9% ABV.

Clearly we're not talking about lambics. You do understand the difference right?

Only the fact that for lambics fermentation occurs while in the barrels. Which is not the case in what we typically consider "barrel aging" for beers such as porters, stouts, old ales, etc. Your post was sarcastic, pointless and just plain dumb.

Nor are barrel aged beers of with low abv obscure.
I'll give you those 3 points, but your post read like someone saying "I don't like lagers" in terms of how general it was. Thanks for the tip on lambics.

With your lack of knowledge regarding barrel aged beers vs lambics, I can understand why you would have read it that way. It's cool.

i think you should sleep it off... i usually think your posts are on point, but you're throwing around a lot of dick-swinging for someone who just called the beers i mentioned "obscure." not to mention that we're not exactly arguing about life or death here.
