I'd rather have the hand touched tube bottom fill.

In general, they have multiple tubes and leave them sitting in a tub of sanitizing solution when they're not in use. I'm sure there are some breweries who slack on that, but most of the ones that bother to bottom fill are going to follow basic sanitation procedures.

Yeah. This is what Russian River and all the other local breweries do. If you go to a brewery who doesn't do this, I'd stop going. They probably don't clean their lines either.

If the brewery does it right they will have several tubes sitting in sanitizer.

Yes Alpine top fills to the very top. Have to watch out when you first open. Societe almost to the top. At least the two visits I've been. And no you dont have to open immediately. I've opened growlers thats been sitting in my fridge for three weeks. Fresh as hell! And a few just over three weeks old. Thats pushing it though. But once opened you must consume with 24 hrs. Pushing it, a day and half.

    This.

I bring my glass chilled, have it filled, return it immediately to ice, suckers will last for weeks, if necessary. Still better in the first few days, but by no means do they fall off a cliff / go flat.

Was I imagining them bottom filling? I thought they always bottom filled.

Well, I drank all 3 growlers this weekend. They were filled 5/18 and drank 6/1. They were boxed up at the shipping place on 5/18, UPS picked them up on Monday 5/20. I got them Friday 5/24. Been in my fridge since then until yesterday. They were in great shape!
