Had my first last night. $6.49 bottle at Lizardville in Cleveland. They have 2-3 cases from what I saw.

My initial reaction was I'd rate it a 93-94. It's very smooth, drinkable (10.9% ABV), and has some really nice wood/peat flavors. It has very nice balance although I think a little bit more pronounced chocolate would bring it to the next level. Not complaining though, excellent beer and worth seeking out.

I also joked about calling this "poor man's KBS" which I think iis somewhat accurate. Enjoy!

Lizardville in Bedford Hts (CLV) has the Wulver. I saw a case of it, but didn't see it on the shelves. It just came in though. Not sure if that helps.

It really is a poor mans KBS. Notice that the bottle suggests drinking at 44 degrees? I thought that was a weird suggestion. As I worked through the bottle, there wasn't as much of a change to the beer as it warmed up, as say a KBS. I thought there was good wood flavor, 11 months is no short stint in a barrel. Pretty good chocolate flavor and medium to thick body. Pretty impressed, wish it were more moderately priced.

There's no coffee, how is this comparable to KBS? And it costs more per 4 pack.

Not hating at all, just don't agree with the comparison. I had one last weekend and have a ton in the cellar to send out in trades/extras over the next year. Very tasty beer, but previous batches on tap were more barrel forward. I actually enjoyed the bottle more than I remember it on tap but it's certainly not one of the most wood/bourbon/barrel forward 11 month BA beers I've had.

Wulver, on the other hand, is absolutely a poor man's BA4D. Or maybe a rich man's BA4D since it's not an extract brew

More comparable to Event Horizon than KBS...but I don't think a ton of people have been exposed to EH

i think that it taste somewhat similar, their are coffee notes in the ba siberian and the barrel character is similar imo. price on the other hand means nothing considering ive seen people pay $40 for a 4pack of kbs

Picked-up a 4pk at Sam's Quik Shop in Durham for $26.99. I walked out slightly bent over but still feeling good.

I have a 4pk of this. I was planning on doing a taste comparison between this, BA BORIS, and BA Old Rasputin.
