I think the "crap move" is changing from the original plan that had set customers' expectations on being able to get three of their limited release beers (particularly those of us who don't live too close to the brewery) in one trip to now requiring three separate trips. If the original plan was to have three separate releases, then I don't think there would be any complaints. But circumstances change. Yes I'm slightly disappointed, but they must have their reasons. C'est la vie.

It's tough to find evidence in a thread when someone is whining about a brewer not thinking about them when they live farther away from HF than I do from Seattle. Maybe I should start threads asking why Black Raven or Fremont are such jerks.

Yea, I realized that is the real thread...and I'm too "new" to try and delete on my phone. But it's cool, I'm having some interesting replies on here

this just in... HF's new beer "What is Entitlement?" will be tapped this Wednesday as well... only available to those who feel they "deserve it" or its "owed to them" though...

as Shaun continues to stress... no way to make everyone happy every time... he obviously has been pretty successful at doing things that keep the majority happy though and I applaud him at HF for their efforts!

I'm not saying I agree with his attitude. I just think calling someone out because they've only been here since last year is silly and pointless.

I know it sucks that some of us are 4 hours away and complaining about this, but every locale has some great brewery close to them that others are jealous about. For me, it's Lost Abbey.

It does kind of suck, to me, that they are doing this. Even though I "only" live four hours away, It's still hard for me to take 3 out of 4 Wednesdays off to get the beer I like, especially with 1 or 2 bottle limits.

To me, if this is meant to favor anyone it's very local Vermonters that can stop in during break or after work.

    I'm a little disappointed.

With that said I understand why they are doing it. Its better for many to get one than one get many. It's just inconvenient for me so that's the side I take  This is America after all!

I just love it when people find me intriguing enough to check my "credentials" only to cast judgment on me, making themselves feel better...

That's kind of the point - you'll go up one week, get one release, grab a few growlers of other awesome beers, and be on your merry way. Driving 4 hours each way 3 out of 4 weeks to grab a couple of beers is in the dictionary under 'insanity'.

We all want every Hill Farmstead release, but staggering releases helps spread out the goods. The beautiful thing about HF is that you will always be able to go there and come away with world class beer. They will probably have 3 beers on tap alone that are better than any of these upcoming releases. It's to the point that I don't even pay attention to their release schedule anymore - I go when it is convenient to go and enjoy what they have. I've never been disappointed...

I don't think he should announce releases at all.

I don't know. It sounds like people think Hill Farmstead is a victim here because people want to go up and grab a few bottles of beer.

Lets not forget that our consumption of their beer is why they are in business. I'm not saying they should release EVERYTHING at once, or that anyone is ENTITLED to anything. But I don't think it's out of bounds to be upset with this move.

Either way, whatever. It's all part of the fun of the hobby. Maybe I'll even get some.

sounds like people are saying that other people have a better chance to get beer this way not just the hoarders. I haven't heard anyone call HF a victim.

Those dirty, dirty hoarders... With their closets full of quality beer...trading online like beer is some kind of commodity...racing to any world class brewery bottle release...then trading it away so people around the country can enjoy...

i HATE those guys... and gals...

Words do matter. "Crap Move" implies ill intent on the part of the brewer as opposed to the results of said move being "crappy" for you. I think that is why you are getting some $hit

Are these limits per person per day? Or do they kick you out if they remember your face. Need to know if I should make a trip out of it or just a day trip driving back and forth.

To the OP - I'm sure they (HF) have a lot of people/situations in mind, including those in MA who are overcome with anxiety. They can't please everyone.

I live in NYC and was up for the 3rd anniversary party. It was the correct move to cancel the release at the time, and it's the correct move to stagger the releases as they have now.

If you can't go up several times, then make a difficult decision and choose which one you'd like to try the most, and go then. As others have said - any time you go up there, you won't leave disappointed.
