Hey. I have family driving east on 90 through minnesota today. I was wondering which store in Austin would be the best bet for them to pick up some Surly for me. I used the "Find Liquor Store" feature on Surly's website but am not familiar with any of the stores. Or if there's a better recommendation on I-90 aside from Austin. Thanks for any speedy responses!
I just searched along I-90. Austin looks like it has the most options. I just need to know which specific store would be the best option so I don't send them on a wild goose chase. I'm hoping to get coffee bender, cynicale, and overated.
Looking at the map on Surly's website, it may be easier to route them through Rochester. Any recommendations are appreciated as they should be in that area in about 2 hrs.
Thanks! I still need recommendations for a specific store though. Is OverRated just in the Twin Cities then? Or no longer available? Are Smoke and/or Pentagram still available?
If you're looking for Smoke and Pentagram, Andys by Target (36th st I think) has both plus a pile of the regular line up.
Since we're getting real specific, More like 7 miles to MGM on 43, unless they've changed it from 43 to 47. Still not that near to me.
There's 3 different Andy's listed on here in Rochester. Which one is the best bet? And I take it that OverRated is not available?
Just a joke--you drive it all the time, you know it better than I do. Pretty soon we'll be discussing what the meaning of "is" is.
ten miles may be "near" but still farther tthan most people would want to detour to pickup beer for someone else while "passing through" an area. Winona stores are mediocre at best, I had to make multiple stops to find olvalde beera which are brewed "near" there. that would be another bottle to have them bring back for you is auroch's hor or anything else they have from ovalde
I'm all set. Considering they already drove from PA to FL to AZ to WY and are on their way back to PA, a 10 mile detour isn't much at all. Thanks for the input and clarification as to what everyone considers to be "near".
Hy-vee liquor and Apollo liquors in Austin both stock Surly products. Hy-vee is one block north of I-90, much closer than Rochester or Winona. I moved away from Austin last year, but in the 4 years I lived there I purchased many a furious, abrasive and wet there. I wouldnt be surprised if they had Overrated or Smoke or Pentagram. Definately should have Furious, Bender, Coffee Bender, Cynic and maybe a little Abrasive.
I currently live in Austin. As JJWIGHT mentioned Hy-Vee and Apollo do have a large offering of Surly. As of Monday Apollo had Smoke and Pentagram. Last time I was in Hy Vee I saw Smoke but don't recall seeing Pentagram although they've had it before. Also Cheers Liquor has some Surly (I remember seeing Overrated and Furious, along with a couple of others, but no Smoke or Pentagram). Cheers is located just off the 178A exit south of I-90 on Fourth Street Northwest. To get to Apollo take exit 178A, head south on Fourth Street NW, then turn right onto Oakland Avenue West (a one-way street). After a couple of blocks you'll see Apollo on the left.
