Hey Guys, I went to the innaugural IX beerfest in Cleveland last year and had a great time. I was curious if a lot of people were planning to attend from here. Has anyone established a group buy promo? It only takes 15 people for group buy and you get a discount of $7/ticket. Seems like a no brainer.

    No one is interested? Deng.

I heard back from the group organizer at ixbeerfest. Sounds like a good deal.

I considered going to this last year, but the beer list they put out on the website was pretty weak... especially considering the price. I know the event did end up having a some decent stuff not available at my local store, but I'm not spending $75 - or anywhere close to that, unless I know exactly what I'm getting.

$75 for VIP ticket, $45 for the regular tickets. I had a couple friends that did VIP last year (free VIP upgrade was part of the hotel package last year - this year it's not, which is disappointing). Personally, I don't feel the handful of added beers is worth the VIP price hike if purchasing a single ticket. Most booths were pretty lax regarding drink tickets, which was nice. I paid ~$43 or something like that after promo code and convenience fee last year. According to the email from the group organizer, tickets would be as low as $35 if we get 15+.

Everyone has different preference on beer selection, but I felt like it was a good value when I attended last year. The Belgian section was pretty large, and that was the area I was most interested in. Plus, it was the first year. I assume it's going to improve, not get worse this year . You're right though, I'm surprised they haven't update the site yet. Hopefully they do so, soon. I'll keep an eye on it.

I can add 4 to the group if it really gets the price down to $35. Does it all have to be the same session? We were planning on Saturday afternoon one.

I just looked at the site's initial lineup.

    A few thoughts:

    1) Only 4-5 beers that looked interesting; most everything was off the shelf stuff I can buy at Giant Eagle.

    2) What's the deal with "judge only" beers? Pretty stupid if you ask me... why even list them?

    3) Pabst, Old Milwaukee, Strohs, Colt 45... Seriously?

I understand what they are trying to do, but at this point, they would have to pay me to go...

Already bought my tickets. We're doing both sessions on Saturday.

having attended last year I can say that the beer/brewery list on their website is not complete. As it is I know Kuhnhenn's is attending even though it doesn't show up on the IX website. Last year I remember a whole slew of Belgians that never made the website.

As for the tasting ticket thing, I can say it wasn't an issue for us last year. We had several groups of people who I don't think really knew what they were getting into offering us their tickets as they left.
