I'm with boog. Don't have the sceince to back it up, just experience. I've tasted multiple kegs that have been pulled and put back on that have lost carbination.

Sounds like the perfect place for me. I will be the guy in the tank top that hates beer, will bring multiple people to get extra pours and put them all into one bigger drinking vessel. Soon as I pound it I will be calling everyone out 1v1willwreku. pepper your angus.

    FWIW 100% srs

Pouring a bunch of BCBS into a barrel and shooting a hole in the side to drink it from would be even more meta than a 4-pack of heady drunk out of a huge glass head.

Is this the new BCBS variant for 2013?

Boog seemed to be more concerned with oxidation, not carbonation. Oxidation is valid, since it can't be fixed (to what degree oxidation sets in, I don't know, but it is a valid concern). Carbonation can be adjusted, although it does require more effort and time on the part of the bar, so saying it would go flat isn't really an issue.

I never claimed to have the science down so maybe the semantics of my statement weren't correct but what I can, respectfully impart is knowledge learned over approximately 15 years of operating/owning establishments that serve beer. While you can flame me on the scientific aspects of my claim, the end result has happened time and time again. As far as kegs that have been tapped and then untapped, over the last three years I average somewhere between 2-3 tap takeovers a month. What generally happens after these is that I've got a handful of kegs of varying volume left. If I don't pour these kegs off in a couple weeks they become garbage. Some will last two weeks and some 3-4 but they oxidize(maybe this isn't the correct term) quickly. Once again, I'm a bar owner who hasn't home-brewed and talked my way out of science classes during college so I won't agrue the science with anyone. That, I'll easily and happily defer but the end result is not up for debate in my experience. As far as untapped kegs, I originally stated that there are exceptions to the rule, as evidenced by the fifteen year old keg that Crusian enjoyed but in my experience I've tapped two very well known, highly rated beers after almost three years of sitting(in perfect environmental settings) and each had severe carbonation issues and oxidation issues.

    Cheers!

as far as carbonation loss... easily fixed with a keg. oxidation issues... not so much.

Please explain how a bar with lots of handles and one pressure system would fix this "easily". Honest question.

What are the odds of BCBS lasting til lunch Friday? Though I guess with the other stuff on tap it's still worth a lunch stop...

About a third of the barrel left, that should last through Friday. No promises, though:wink:!
