I thought BVDL was basically perfect. Now I have to try BCBVS!

Get in your time machine. Fresh BCBVS was neck and neck with fresh Vanilla DL. It is a shadow of its former self, imo. Still very good, but not the vanilla bomb it once was.

Bring the BVDL and a buddy. I'll add on Brandy Huna.

I would. But I have a buddy with De Muerte. I think we are going to have a small tasting with them.

I only have a few buddies that are into it, but getting them together is a pain in the ass. I generally end up sharing my goodies with those that don't appreciate them. So I get it. If someone posted like this in my area and had a decent BA reputation I'd show up.

Edit: I would also have to have the BVDL, which I don't

I'm with you on this one...I'm always cracking nice bottles at band practice/BBQ's or just random friends get togethers who have no clue what they are drinking. I figured if they at least appreciate good beer and enjoy it I don't mind. I have been to a couple of bottle shares but for the most part I'm not officially in a tasting group. Sometimes its like trying to join an elete group like the Stonecutters getting into some "friends only" bottleshares. So I too would have no problem showing up to some random BA post about a bottle share. Unfortunately no vanilla DL only the Port DL and 12'Bourbon DL.

I also think BADL is best consumed fresh, in fact I've moved my bottles out of the cellar and into the fridge. In particular the De Muerte variants tend to age poorly.

In a set of not so eloquent, drunken posts I also previously mentioned that side-by-side BVDL '13 was drinking magnitudes better than BVDL '12. Even in properly collared conditions I've found the vanilla to have faded significantly on BVDL '12.

All of the flavors are still there in the '12, and it's an amazing beer, but nearly every flavor is bigger in the '13 version (more vanilla, more marshmellow, more chocolate, more heat). Side-by-side BVDL '12 seemed muted.

...but that just like, my opinion man. I know others have had different experiences and prefer the balance and integration of flavors in the aged '12 BVDL.

I am holding onto 4 Vanilla BADL from 2013. I am afraid to try them. My wife thinks I am crazy that I spend at least a half hour with them every night in the cellar when she puts our child to bed. I will never drink these. I will just enjoy the occasional boner that pops up when I read threads like this or see crazy trade offers. I feel bad for all of you.

I have a 2012 and 2013 VDL. Will probably wait till I have a vertical of 5 years then open them all.
