I was typing in direct URLs for wants/gots until I learned there was a link you could click the other day

Are people taking bottles of beer too seriously? Don't get me wrong, I think HF is great, I went to the anniversary, I bought my bottles, I've been to a few releases and I've gone up even not for a release just to get some growlers or whatever on hand bottles they had or just for a nice ride in the country or as part of a voyage to Waterbury for gastro-pub goodness.

I'm not going to die if they spread out their releases, in the end it works out better for the community of drinkers that they sell less variety.release less variety on any given day.

I'd almost prefer silent, magical, surprise releases as I think that would be a real treat and accomplish a few cool things, I would make the chances of scoring something cool on any given trip up there higher, and it would reduce the ability for traders who are not interested in the beer for their own enjoyment from locking out those consumers who actually are interested in the beer. It's like the workers paid to stand in line for iPhone releases so they can quickly turn it around and sell it to a foreign market or whatever, lol...

I think Shaun's doing a great job, demand exceeds supply and that's normally a pretty good thing business wise, but it doesn't come without challenges, problems and decisions to be made. I'd prefer HF not turn into an alchemist situation where unless you show up at 7am on canning day you have no chance of buying anything ever. Lol. Please let's not have HF turn into that situation.

I'll take a general available of "something" on any given day over a few days per month where you're either there or you lose.

That's just me. Maybe I'm not as hardcore. I'm not a collector. I'm not on a quest. I just like good beer from anyone/anywhere, HF included and its nice to be able to get it most times without having to rearrange my entire life to be there on the one day with a hundred other people like I'm waiting for an iPhone at an Apple store in manhattan on release day. It's actually more interesting to me and more rewarding to be able to "discover" the beers and releases and new stuff than to plan, orchestrate and "anticipate" it.

Will HF fill growlers other than their own? Heading up for the first time tomorrow and I'm wondering if I should bring empties. 750 and 2L are within a couple oz of 32 and 64. Thanks

Yes they will. Just make sure that they are extremely clean and dry and you should be fine.

Just heard about Shaun's new Euro Style Lager that will only be on tap in Boston for all the BA's that are "too far" to make it up to his releases. Apparently it's called Whine-iken.

I was just thinking that when they have these release what is stopping someone from going back the next day and picking up more of the bottle releases?

In fact, Phil said yesterday that he was seeing a lot of the same people he saw on Wednesday back again. I bet more than a few people are there today, then are hitting up Waterbury tonight, then going to Lawson's Farmer's Market and back to HF tomorrow.

Do they refuse/kick you out for going to the back of the line for more bottles (as you would for more growler fills)? If they permit the same people to come every day, it makes me wonder...

Unless they start scanning licenses like they're selling Sudafed, I'm not sure there's a way around it. Toss up bottle limits and hope for the best.

It's a pretty small operation. I think Phil would recognize you if you cycled back through for more limited release bottles. I've seen people do this for growlers, but that's not exactly limited. You can take the chance if you want, but I don't think it would work. The next day is another thing, because this likely means you've made a second lengthy trip in from somewhere...

To my understanding, bottle limits are effectively per person, per day. Growler fill limits are per trip through the line.

Any guesses, from those who've been there this week, if they'll be some bottles left for next week.

Phil was saying it depends on how Saturday goes. With the Lawson's market the same day...it could be a zoo up there tomorrow. I'd say it'd be lucky if there were around Thursday next week...Wednesday, maybe.
