Orval purchased recently and in refrigerator now for consumption soon. Had to find an excuse for an "emergency" trip to the store for some Black Butte Porter anyway. Didn't know Simon, but will drink to him tonight.

I had a Orval bottled on Nov 16, 2005 sitting in my "fridge" for a special occassion.

I'll pop the cap and make the proper pour into a Orval glass in Simon's honor tonight. Just hope he didn't mind Orval with a little age on it.

    Cheers to Simon

Lo and glory, my local actually carries Orval. I thought I had remembered seeing it but had never sought it out, so for my first time tasting it I tipped a glass in Scoop's honor. Wasn't a proper chalice but it was a Bruery tulip, my finest glass piece. In honesty I followed with an aged Old Rasputin which is one of the worthiest fermented creations in my mind. One for him, one from me.
    Peace Scoop.

Don't have any Orval at hand :slight_frown:, but everything I drink tonight will be in his honor.

You know it.Simon was 44 & I believe Walt was 33. Far far too young for both these great guys.

    Death is nothing at all.
 It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
 Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
 There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

Reluctant Scooper, you are not going somewhere strange.

Way to many great people leaving us to soon lately. Another great one is Ash, who I am sure crossed paths with Walt many times. He started Duff Distribution in Texas, and died a few months ago under terrible circumstances.
