Framinghammer Baltic Porter - Bourbon Barrel Aged - cellaring?

    This is not about the Framinghammer, but I had a year-old BA BORIS stout by Hoppin' Frog at a bottle share and it was still kind of hot. Will aging this beer not benefit at all? I ask because I have a 2010 bottle right now.

    i think it's a trade-off. normally aging BA beer just makes it more muted and bland, particularly in terms of the oak characteristics. that said, if a beer is too hot, age might help with that--while still perhaps giving the lesser elements.

    the problem is that some flaws aren't going to be aged away, and some strengths can't be made better. sometimes a beer is already as good as it's going to be.

    I would definitely save that 09 Abyss for a sour tasting...I've had 3 bottles of 09 so far and all of them rancid!
