I saw a similar post today with someone looking for the best bars around but I guess my question is: What are the must try beers local to the area? I'm coming from New Jersey and want to try as much beer as possible that I can't get here. Thanks!
Go to Fatheads, and the Brew Kettle. Drink everything on tap. Bars to hit: Beer Engine, and Tremont Taphouse The rest depends on what is on where at the time.
I would say Head Hunter, the new IPA on at Fat Head's - InspirationAle, most everything else on at FH's, White Rajah, Willoughby Peanut Butter Cup Coffee Porter(get it at Winks downtown) and maybe the collab between GLBC and Deschutes. Also, hit Tremont Tap House, Deagan's and World of beer in Lakewood to find some Columbus beer(Bodhi, IPA, Uncle Rusty, etc.).
Thanks guys. Fatheads is like 20 minutes out of the city? We're actually staying in independence and it seems pretty close to there. I plan to hit up Winks when we go to the RR HOF. I'm really excited to try this Peanut Butter Cup Porter, it sounds phenomenal. Any of these places bottle incase I want to bring some home? I also registered for a tour at Great Lakes. We just recently got them in NJ and I'm a big fan.
North Royalton isn't terribly far away from independence and that's where my favorite bottle shop is! Royal Park Fine Wines has most of the beers mentioned here. Just do yourself a favor and get a 4pk of head hunter and a 6pk of Columbus IPA!
20 minutes sounds right. If you are staying in Independence, go to Melt on Rockside Rd. Winks doesn't do growlers, but you could make the 30 minute trip to Willoughby for that if you want to take some back.
Thanks guys, appreciate all of the tips! I will definitely check out the shop in North Royalton and Melt is already on the agenda. It's pretty much next door to our hotel.
I don't know why I always forget to mention this, but go to Lizardville in Bedford Hts. It's the best place to buy bottles in the area and usually has a good line up on tap.
Perfect, LizArdville is only 12 minutes from the hotel. Their beer list on the website is incredible.
You won't be disappointed, L-Ville is the bomb. Crazy Goose Island event tomorrow and a Struise tap takeover coming soon!!
Some are bottles, but here's the list for the event - I'm friends with the local rep so she sent this to me. Lizardville is notorious for slacking on promoting events on their site and FB, but it's a great place! Honker's Ale vs. 25th Anniversary India Pale Ale vs. The Illinois IPA Sofie vs. Sofie Paradisi Madame Rose vs. Lolita Big John vs. Night Stalker
Sara's still our state rep, just lives in C-bus now. But I know all the local geese and ganders from GI & their distro. Quality people all around!!
