    Howdy, all!
Ill be in Round Rock TX starting on 6-11 for two weeks helping to open a new craft beer bar. I'm looking for a couple cool places to go, I'm definitely going to check out Jester King and i have family in San Antonio and will be stopping by Freetail when i visit them (in-laws, so maybe ill stop at the brewery FIRST).
Im also a bit of a foodie, and am looking for a couple of great BBQ joints while im in town.
I will also be bringing a bunch of CCB with me that im looking to share. Im not sure how cool bars in this area are in terms of bottle sharing, but if anyone works at/knows of a cool spot that would be ok with me popping some bottles open to share with BAs/customer/bar staff id be really interested and i'd be sure to order some of their offerings and leave a big fat tip. If i can get this arranged, any and everyone would be more than welcome to join me. id just like to get some of my local stuff out there for folk who havent tried it can enjoy!
    Thanks for all the help!

I am venturing to say the Brass Tap.

As far as bars go up north, you may be out of luck. There are not many things up in that area.

I am always up for grabbing beers with people wherever, if you need anyone to do that with.

As far as bars go for bottle shares, the official BA tastings are usually at the Draughthouse. I am unsure how cool they are about that at any point in time, but they let the BAs get away with it on the first sunday of the month.

Here is a list that I have going as well...

    Breweries
512 - Every other Saturday in general...$10 for pint and pours - RSVP - http://www.eventbrite.com/org/980013407?ref=eorgbtn
Independence - First Saturday of each month - $10 for pint and pours - No RSVP
Hops and Grains - Every Friday (2-6) and Saturday (12-4) - $10 for pint glass and 5 or 6 half pours - No RSVP
    Thirsty Planet - Every Saturday (11-2) - $7 for pint and 3 pours - RSVP - http://www.thirstyplanet.net/brewery-tours/#
Jester King - Every Saturday (1-4) - $10 for glass and 6 half pours - No RSVP
Adelberts - Every Friday (5-9) and Saturday (12-4) - $10 for pint and 3 pours/6 half pours - No RSVP
    Austin Beerworks - Every Friday (5-8) - $10 for pint and 3 pours - RSVP - http://www.eventbrite.com/org/1917556589
Twisted X - Not so often but they do things randomly
    Rogness - Every Saturday (1-4) - $10 for pint and 6 half pours - RSVP - http://rognesstours.whindo.com
Live Oak - twice a month on Sundays(12-3) - $10 for pint and 3 pours (could be mistake, its been awhile) - requires RSVP -http://www.liveoakbrewing.com/tour/
South Austin Brewery - Every Sunday (12 or 1-5) - I am guessing $10...never been there for a pay event, just for free
Circle - Usually quarterly - Pint glass and 3 fillings for around $10. There website gives more info on when they have them.
    Infamous - TBD

As far as BBQ..the obvious answer is Franklins. However, Franklin's requires you to wait in line and not everyone is up for that. By wait in line, I mean get there at 9:30 AM and hope to get in before it is sold out by lunch time. There is also La Barbeque and John Mueller Meat Company. Both of which are trailers.

There are too many good food choices in Austin.

Since you're coming from Florida to Round Rock, I assume you're coming to help open the new Brass Tap. I was just in Tampa and went to the one in Carrollwood, and liked it a lot, so I'm pretty excited about this opening in RR.

I posted this in another thread, but here's a spreadsheet I put together on places in Austin/RR. CLICK HERE

Best places in Round Rock are HomeField Grill and Flix. Westside Alehouse has 50 taps, but they are slow to change them, and they only carry the basic line of stuff - nothing new or seasonally rare.

Definitely go to Jester King on Saturday for the tour/tasting, but I'd also strongly recommend you go to Austin Beerworks on a Friday (you need to follow them on Fb for when they announce tickets each week - they're free but they go fast!) as well as Hops and Grain on Friday or Saturday.

For BBQ, I think you have to go to Franklin (but get there by 9am, and you have to wait in line until 11 when they open) and I'd strongly recommend J. Mueller (which is walking distance to Hops and Grain, so you could go there at 10:30-11am, eat, then walk over to Hops and Grain for the noon tour/tasting on Saturday). If you want to get out of town and try some of the "old school" places, drive to Lockhart and try Black's, Kreutzes, etc.

Let me know if I can help you at all. I live in Round Rock, about 5 miles from where the Brass Tap is going to be, and I'd be glad to help you out.

You may want to add Saturdays to Adelberts schedule on that list as well.

Ha...how could I forget about Flix. Yes, they do brew their own beer up in RR.

Also, if you cannot escape too long on Saturday, Rogness is about as close to RR that you can get for a brewery.

Looking forward to The Brass Tap as well sir. Just saw the ad in the local Community Impact newspaper. Maybe they'll sneak in some Jai Alai undercover...

There will be a soft opening on both Friday and Saturday, but as it is being treated as a training exercise, it will be by invite only- friends and family of staff, that sort of thing. The doors will be open for business on Monday the 17th.

The bar is beautiful, set in a registered historic building. original floors (110+ years old), and decorated with all kinds of cool historic stuff they found during the demo (old liquor bottles, horseshoes, a giant antique safe, etc...). The back of the bar opens into a pretty legit biergarten. Theyve got a really high quality draft list (Victory at Sea, Sculpin, Black Butte, Espresso RIS, Golden Monkey, and 16 local offerings like thirsty planet, rogness, circle, 512, live oak, and Jester King). It's going to be a pretty awesome bar, run by pretty awesome dudes who have a passion for craft beer.

Monday? Thats good to know! I guess the official "grand opening" event is Friday the 21st, per their Fb page, but if they open Monday I'll definitely be in before then to tip back a few.

How many taps will this place have? From the sounds of it, I am guessing in the 40ish area?

Looking at their most recent pics on Fb, the tap holes on the wall are numbered, and the numbers go up to 60
