Budweiser Black Crown...already down?

    Saw a gas station in town advertising Bud Black Crown for $10.99 a case. Anyone else see deep discounting on this psuedo craft?

    I bought a sixpack of it several weeks ago. I've got 5 remaining. I wish there were a beer Salvation Army that I could donate the other 5 to!

    I really, REALLY dislike the company, but Black Crown isn't THAT awful of a beer for the price point. I get that it's cool to hate the macros, but come on.

    Macro brew beer is like the phony vet who panhandles on the Interstate on-ramp I use to get to work. I mentally know it's there, I pass by it everyday, I know I don't really care for it, and yet, I don't really see it anymore.

    I hear you. I saw a commercial on TV - it might even have been during the Super Bowl this year - and it piqued my curiosity. So in a weak moment I buckled and bought a six pack. But, like I say, I've got five left and would love to find a taker.

    I've never actually seen anyone drinking Black Crown, so I'm not surprised that places are discounting it. If AB had named it Bud Light Black Crown, I think it might have sold better.

    Palate drops and floor-stackers have diminished in number around here, but I have not seen deep discounting like that. In fact in these parts it's downright uncommon to see A-B brands discounted -that- much!

    For $10.99 I might just take a crack at that case if I saw it. :sunglasses:

    "Craft" beer drinkers will never support it. Bud Lite drinkers will never support it. I don't see a market for it, and I don't think it's really all that bad.

    As an AB distributor salesman, I can say Black Crown landed with a thud and went absolutely no where after that. Platinum and limearita at least started fast then fizzled out... Black Crown never got started.

    Bud American Ale v. 2?

    Macro is certainly an interesting market. Fierce loyalty to certain names just doesn't make that much sense to me in the world of beer. I had a hard time understanding what the target market even was for it. :confused:
