Decided to drive up to Williamsburg AleWerks today to take the tour and pick up some fresh 2nd batch Bitter Valentine. They had some of their 5th Anniversary ale I thought was delicious and had to bring home with me.

I thought the All Day was delicious - I predict and hope that session IPA's are the next big trend in the American craft beer world. Cheers!

I understand that there is little distinction between certain styles. But there are quite a few small scale brewers that are just now tapping into the idea of a low alcohol India Pale. And if you ask me, APA's and IPA's are unique genres, no matter the ABV.

Bitter Valentine is so ridiculously awesome! I had one bottle, but I've got to get some more of that stuff. Have you ever tried their Barleywine? I think I want to pick one up next time I'm in PA.

    went there yesterday as well.
stocked up on Bitter Valentine and grabbed some more Grand Illumination (can't believe that's still available!). wish I filled a growler of the FIF... may still do that this week as Alewerks is only 30 minutes away from my job.

At the tasting the guide popped a bottle of Grand Illumination, it was a good solid brew, I have a couple bottles I am aging, he said most people prefer it with a couple years on it.

Yeah, FiF was my favorite of the tasting, I just had to grab some. Soo good.

I can't find any info on the 5 anny beer by them? What is it and is it only draft only?

It's a Belgian strong ale, and unfortunately it is draft only. He said they are using the remainder of what they had of it in a special blend beer that they then are going to throw in bourbon barrels...it sounded interesting but I did not ask him when/if they would be bottling for distribution.

Ah ok. Did you have the older ex FBI guy give you the tour? That beer sounds interesting. They are my favorite East Coast brewery for sure so I like to try everything I can from them.

And Total Wine just had Coffeehouse Stout for 3.99 a 6er the other week which was sweet. It's definitely falling off though.

It was 8 hours of driving, but I was too close to Brussels to not trek there.
