As already mentioned, I like the way 3Floyds recently did it. Online pre sale and each buyer was allowed to buy 2 tickets. The buyers name would be printed on each ticket which entitled the buyer and one guest entry and bottles. They also had people checking id's to make sure the name on the ticket matched the person with the ticket and their guest ticket. Doing it this way helped cut down on scalping tickets and "mules".

I also think having different groups with alloted times is beneficial. This helps prevent everyone showing up at once and will help cut down on one big cluster of a line. The one change I would make (compared to DLD) would be to not allow people to go in later groups if they missed their alloted time. Basically, the last group was the worst because all of the procrastinators would just wait and ineveitably the last groupwould become ridiculously swamped. Perhaps have a set time at the end of the day or "last call" type of group after all the pre assigned groups have gone for those that missed their alloted time.

Depending on the expected size make sure to have plenty of port-o-potties on hand. Possibly different entrances as well which will help cut down on another single big ass cluster of a line.

 

Volunteers. offering myself up for that if needed as well. but need enough workers to keep order and make sure orders get out quickly. make it either cash only or credit card only, been a major problem in the past when there were both. one inevitably moves quicker, and people will complain...but if there are windows as described below both can be managed.

Tickets. when people arrive, go to desk, get ticket.

Tickets have numbers, and a window to buy bottles. alleviates large lines, because people know when their window is. ticket lines won't be too bad because people wander in at different times, but that will be the main line, not the bottle line when people are stresed.

Just my thoughts.

 

I just personally don't like the idea of buying a ticket and then buying bottles. I guess if it's all together cheap I'd do it.

I can see parking being an issue since there's one entrance. Maybe have an FAQ form once all guidelines have established to hand out to people on arrival to cut down on all the questions regarding the event.

 

Oh, buying tickets... No. just in line to get free tickets. or you can just do the classic buy 1 ticket per beer and pick up any time.

 

If only there was an online purchase I could to an pick it up at a certain time. Since I'm in San Antonio and can't always make it early on a saturday morning. (I usually work saturdays)

Actually, online purchase through brown bag would be best. pick up whenever. can still have release day, but no huge stress to get bottles.

 

We're recording an episode on Sunday, so a Sunday tasting is out. But do being the ball beer to Jester King. I'll be there.

But anyways. Back to atrial Rubicite and the impending hoarde. Also do we have an answer yet on camping out at Ceres Park or is Clonies sleeping at a bus stop for the night? I'm sure Jeff is working on an answer in addition to the million other things on his plate.
