God - that is shocking! Feels like the mid-90's all over again. Best of luck to all!

I like that there is a brewery-in-planning on Monhegan. Talk about a niche market! As for the other 18 coming to Maine, I hope they are all prepared for the inevitable market oversaturation.

The author of this website usually has VERY good info on new breweries opening in Maine, glad someone is pulling all of this information together!

It will be interesting to see how many of these ventures actually open and how many that do, are able to stay in business. It certainly looks like Maine's beer market could be headed for a period of serious competition amongst newcomers for a share of the ME Craft pie.

Also interesting that many of these new breweries seem to located in fairly small towns, a definite departure from most of the successful operations currently up and running.

I also wanted to say how much I love this list, and that somebody is pulling it all together.

Looking at the breweries-in-planning in both states, it's clear that some are much more serious (or at least farther along in planning) than others. In NH for instance, Belgian Mare is pretty far along in building their brewery building, whereas I can't find any info on Giant Brewing other than the website (which looks kind of like a stock page to me) linked to. I hope I'm wrong about that though--I'd love to see another brewery or two (maybe a brewpub!) in the Manchester area.

Wow - Monhegan. That'll be a long trip to the store to buy yeast for sure! Beautiful place - and I could see a little tasting room/growler sales doing pretty good there in the summer.

I didn't know that Border Brew in NH was brewing - I thought they were still a homebrew shop (remember that time you tried to that new homebrewer a packet of US-05 for $6.) That was awesome. Godspeed.

Monhegan Island Brewing Co. is a reality. We are fully licensed and expect to go into production within the next 2 weeks. We will have an update soon on the first batch. It's been a fun ride.
