Link is down, still waiting for their Saison Thumbprint to show up on their schedule.

Excellent sleuthing Kyle. No news from my sources but that's a promising photo.

The suspense is killing me! Those photos do look promising though, thanks for posting them!

It's too bad that we don't get to try New Glarus' actual "R&D" beers. I'm sure they do small batches to play around with new ideas, but they don't want outside people to try them in case they're not good enough. They even have that little micro batch system sitting in the middle of the hilltop brewery. How cool would it be to be in an "R&D club" where every so often you could go out to the brewery, sample the latest R&D beer draft only, and then let Dan and the crew know what you thought of it?

Wonder if they'll be released by the time I make my next trip up there in July or August? Most likely no, but one could dream right?

A buddy of mine was there last week. The R&D available was Golden Ale.

And it will be for a few years at least. They said they made enough Golden Ale to last 5+ years.

The Belgian Golden Ale was Brewed and bottled in 2009. They released a little each year to see how it has changed. Let me tell you that it is an awesome Belgian!!

I was going to guess Golden Ale since I believe that is the only beer in those bottles.

All of the R&D Beers (Golden Ale, Kriek, Gueuze, and the originall Two Women Lager) were all released in the 500ml bottles.

I opened up my Golden Ale about a week ago and it wasnt that good. Couldn't even finish it. Any body else fell that was about it? It was much better on tap at the brewery.

It's a strange beer, and it seems that every bottle is different. Some taste like bandaids and shower curtains, others are sweet and fruity.

Most of the time when you order some at the brewery, they pour it out of a bottle. I think I remember being there once when they had a keg on tap, but I'm not sure.

I liked mine a lot - bought it in February and drank it in March. Was expecting it to be more sour since the label mentions Brettanomyces but it was really soft and lightly floral and fruity. I could see it as a gateway beer for sours - very, very, very faint sour but it puts the taste on your tounge and makes you interested in delving further.

My pour came off the tap. It was about a year and half ago.

Yeah I remember it being around 1 year old at that point, so I bet we had some from the same keg. I know some kegs (or at least 1 keg) of the BB Kriek made it outside the brewery. Have Golden Ale or the Gueuze ever been on tap outside the brewery?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Golden Ale made it to Puemple's.

I went to Puempel's 3x in one day once. That place rules.

I do agree about this statement.

Brett doesn't automatically = sour. Most really sour beers get their sourness from lactic acid producing bacteria (Lactobacillus & Pediococcus). These beers often also have Brettanomyces in them which helps to superattenuate the beer and accentuate the sourness (as well as add some funky aromas/flavors which layer in nicely).
