Your quotes, the horror... the horror...

Anyway, I think it's really premature to be worrying about that. Did anyone from year 1 end up getting shut out last year.

I really like this idea! Lets get together and talk with FiftyFifty about this. This is definitely something I think would be pretty amazing!

Shoot, I completely spaced on this until now. You would think with all the reminders I would have set an alarm or something. Hopefully they will have the ones I missed out on at the party.

Why did people want the Rebel Yell so much? Cause it was the rarest, or cause they like that whiskey?
(of course, I get it if your reason is you just want to be able to try all the 2012 batches)

I doubt there will be Iced Eclipse again, but I imagine something equally rare though. But who knows! I am crossing my fingers for Eclipse in Anchor Old Portrero Barrels!

I would guess it was because it will be the only one not going to distribution and best trade bait:slight_smile:

Damn I really wanted that wheat whiskey and Rebel Yell sounded... interesting. Guess I'll have to "settle" for an Old Fitz and an EC 12. Really wish I could make the party too.

Haha, I hope you're right. I've wanted a wine barrel Eclipse for awhile now...

I'm sure you'll get to try some. And how do you know you won't make the party? Or do you mean the one in May?

I disagree with the notion that this year's release party won't sell out quicker than it did the last two years (or that none of the initial 25 release party attendees got shutout the following year).

You either have a dire massive economic collapse prediction in store for 2012, or you haven't been paying attention to the timeline for previous Eclipse sales/general direction of the 'rare' beer trend to believe otherwise.

    Mo popularity, mo problems.

I would guess few, if any, people bought Rebel Yell bc they like the whiskey (honestly).

Yeah, Eclipse in a Port or Merlot Barrel would be fantastic! But from what I have seen with Wine barrels, the beer is fantastic at first and then the wine characteristics take over way too much. For example, Old Prospector Barleywine and Baril Rouge Baltique. Baril Roque was absolutely fantastic at first, but the last time I had it on tap the wine character was running wild and took over the beer. :slight_frown:

I for one was really happy with how their server handled things. I got my order in by 8:05 am...a hell of a lot easier than my BT orders last year!
Got: 4X Old Fitz and 3x EC 12.

Except that the population that is willing to travel to 50-50 isn't really increasing year-on-year, unless they've become hugely more popular in the Bay Area or Nevada. I just don't see it.

Your claim is belied by the record.

    Triple the attendees last year.

One year does not a trend make.

By definition, a trend is simply the general direction in which something moves. The trend for Eclipse is to sell out faster than it did the previous year. Applies to bottles and the release party, despite an increase in bottles/tickets.

Bottle sales have went faster, almost exponentially faster, since they started? Same w/ release party tickets?

PVW used to sit for months and months at only $15 a bottle back in 08-09. It sold out for $125 at the party in Dec 2011.

Bottom line, the trend is for Eclipse and almost every other limited beer release, to be more popular than it was in previous years.

You weren't one of the original 25 the first year, but you were part of the 75 last year right? You're not being obtuse about this because you have some pejorative association with the word "trend/trendy" are you?
