A buddy of mine is staying on the double tree off sixth near downtown and has offered to mule me back some beer. He'll be on foot, so I'm just wondering if there are any decent bottleshops in the area that may carry some New Glarus stuff (ideally dat berliner, but i'll take what i can get), FFF, or anything else awesome that doesn't make it out to California.

    Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, nowhere within reasonable walking distance. If you friend doesn't mind getting on the bus, the fare is $2.25 each way, but tell him to ask for a transfer because he will either need it to transfer to another bus or it will possibly allow him to get back to the double tree without having to pay fare for the return trip. In the order of nearest to farthest he can get to Whole Foods (2305 N Prospect avenue), Downer wine and spirits (2638 N. Downer avenue), Otto's (3476 N. Oakland Ave), or Ray's liquor (8930 W. North avenue) by bus. However, the best choice, getting a cab ride to Discount wine and Liquor (S. 51st street and W. Oklahoma Ave.) For the buses, www.ridemcts.com for schedules and a transit planner he can put addresses in to help him get wherever he is going to go. Also being able to get Three Floyds is a little iffy, just so you know.

Regardless of where he goes, he better have some kind of backpack or canvas bag.

    Hope that helps.

I recommend Discount Liquor if he can get there.

I think you will have a good amount of Midwest beer pretty soon. ;-)

Metro Market (not to be confused with the Milwaukee Public Market) may have the best selection downtown. Its at 1123 N Van Buren St, a little over a mile away.

I second Metro Market for someone stuck downtown. They should have the full range of NG beers currently available.

Appreciate the help guys! He was able to pick up a couple bottles of serendipity, raspberry tart, and a couple four packs of the Berliner Weiss. Unsure of where he went, as I just showed him this thread and he texted me his haul.
