High expectations, but a very big disappointment?

My only disappointments are when bottles are infected (Rochefort 10/8, Alpine, etc.).

    Most recently Funkwerk's Dark Prophet.

Wasn't sure what a "Barrel Aged Dark Saison" was but liking everything else I have tried by them and curious to find out I eagerly picked a bottle of it up. Upon further research I discovered it was a Belgian Strong Ale, along the likes of a Unibroue Trois Pistoles, a style I just personally don't care for. This beer was definitely its own thing and it is a good beer but its just a style I can not get into and was let down with it.

Same here. I love Founders, this was the first IPA of theirs that I tried. It was so "meh" that I haven't sought out Devil Dancer to even try it. Luckily I have plenty of awesome IPAs around me, so I just enjoy Founders' other brews. On that note, Dirty Bastard was surprisingly great.

It took me a while to see what others see in them. I think that if LagSucks is any indication of where this brewery is headed, count me in.

This was my first year for both Hoptimum and Hopslam, and I have to say I was far more impressed with Hoptimum. Hopslam kinda dissapointed based on hype. It was quite good to be sure, but Hoptimum fit the bill for a sweet, boozy, palatewrecker of a beer. The fact that I got the Hoptimum 9 days after bottling didn't hurt.

never had hoptimum, would like to try though. Bought a case of hopslam this year and enjoyed it very much, although i thought the hops faded drastically after a couple weeks, and it had an unpleasant alcohol finish.

PtE was a letdown though not quite a disappointment. I was expecting "outstanding" and ended up with "pretty good".

Old Rasputin XIV really left me nearing on "pissed off". I think "disappointed" may have applied had the bottle been half the price it was.

Could it have been as dissapointing as the BBA Sea Monster I recently had? Ive got 2 bottles of Raspy XIV. I hope they don't suck...maybe some age will help?

Hopslam was a let down this year and as usual, Dark Lord.

Ha, I felt the same way. Total rip-off on the price for what you get inside that bottle.

Mother Of All Storms. I've never had it and got a chance to try the latest batch. From what I've heard and how much it moves on the forums, I thought it was going to be mind blowing. I wasn't overly impressed with it at all.

I hope I don't get reamed for this, but Dogfish Head's Palo Santo Marron. It was ok, but I felt like the alcohol was medicinal and overpowering. Not one of their better ones, imo.

I couldnt agree more. I ordered 4 bottles and drank 2 fresh (2 weeks), and was very dissappointed. I thought it may get better with a little age so I let it sit 18 months and still hated it.

Duvel Tripel Hop. Tasted very similar to regular Duvel and more than double the price tag.

DFH Punkin Ale. For all the hoopla, I couldn't taste pumpkin, or spices, or really anything. Drank 1, gave 1 away, still trying to figure out what the heck to do with the other 2. My wife says to save them for guests who don't know any better. (I knew I married her for a good reason )
