Slightly late, but I showed up around 11:30-11:45. No line, but plenty busy!

Had a half pour of raspberry eisbock (bartender gave us a 5/6 pour, yay!), DRIPA (my fav), TRIPA (liked it but DRIPA def is better), Grapefruit wit, Habernero wheat (wayyy better than I thought), and Blueberry Play in the Hay. Thought they were out of the blueberry but it was on one of the boards, the one to the left side. It was pretty good!

Sister was going to go up there but ultimately didn't for some reason -- I guess that's good. I'd've been bummed. :slight_frown:

I am going up there with her this weekend though. I've already had it, but you can never have too much DRIPA.

...until you go into a coma and ultimately die. Oh well. Worth it.

I can't understand all the damn wining about the bottle release. If you couldn't enjoy the beer that was at Kuhnhenn over the weekend you are not doing it right. I went on Friday when there was NO bottle release and had a blast. Blueberry Eisbock, Play in the Hay, TRIPA, Dark Heathen, ect. Damn! Those were some amazing beers. For you trolls that came just for the bottle release and are crying about only getting 2 bottles of BB4D, please recognize that this beer is almost always on tap at Kuhnhenn. Stop stressing about aquiring trade bait and appreciate an amazing brewery that does whatever the hell it wants to do. If you didn't get the meads you want there are plenty more for sale there. The crying about beer releases is a joke to me. Go collect Pokemon cards.

Agree Benny! I was blown away by the Pineapple and Blueberry play in the hay..Had no clue Kuhnhenn could make a sour that was among some of the best ive had..Was also pumped about regular 4D on tap..

    Wow.
I think there are a few folks who are quick to defend Kuhnhenn without considering that those offering criticism are doing just that and not necessarily whining.
I am a fan of the beers and the brewery, to a point. Do I wish there was more regular bottle availability so I can enjoy it at home as well? Of course. Will the inconsistency and rules deter me from going again and enjoying myself? Heck no.

BUT, when I look at younger breweries doing amazing things (see Bruery, Lost Abbey, Cigar City, etc) with distro and big bottle releases I can't help but wonder "what if" with Kuhnhenn. I know they are trying to expand. I just wonder what the overall gameplan is.
As for their current process, why not just skip bottle releases at the parties and just do them sporadically throughout the year. A few have been adamant about some of US doing it wrong.... maybe its Kuhnhenn.
Again, I am a fan. I also love the Lions. Glutten for punishment?

Not sure how someone being upset they couldn't get their favorite beer/mead is a problem. Congratulations, you can get Kuhnhenn whenever you like. Not everyone is that lucky. I know you might find this hard to believe but a lot of people who want BB4D in bottles want to, ya know, drink it. 2 bottles every 6 months of your favorite beer isn't a ton of fun. Especially when the brewery releases random cases of it weeks before the event with a 12 bottle limit and then has a super limited supply at the actual release event. I agree, tons of other great stuff there. There's tons of great stuff at Founders too, doesn't mean people will be happy if they announce a four bottle limit for KBS release next year. Take it down a notch.

Sucks you missed out on your favorite beer, but this was not a BB4D release party, this was the Summer Solstice. The Wheat Beers and the party are the main attraction, the bottle release is secondary.

If you are in Michigan, and BB4d your favorite beer, you may be better served to keep an eye on BA and at Kunhenns website to see when they have more bottles available and plan a trip then.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Tone it down here, people...

Anyway, I'll be heading down to Kuhnhenn Friday or Saturday and getting a 5-paddle. I've had Simcoe Silly, DRIPA, and Creme Brulee... any other recommendations?

Again as others stated this was not Dark lord day or KBS day or BB4D day it was the 12 wheats of solstice party. they did not have to release any bottles and everyone knew it was 2 bottle limit going forward. and if your mad they did a no limit the next day you should have paid closer attention to my post a week ago in which i stated if you want hassle free bottles stop by the day after the party and buy what ever is left

Great point and perhaps an idea for Winter Solstice. Keep the focus on the beers on tap.
