I will be visiting Houston next Sunday, June 30th. There was a thread last week on places to hit in Houston (breweries and bottle shops) which I found helpful. The wrinkle for me is I will only have Sunday to do my beer thing as I have work all day Monday, July 1st and fly out immediately after. Any recommendations for Houston on a Sunday?

    Thanks,

    Sam

All liquor stores, including Spec's, will be closed on Sunday. Any Whole Foods, Kroger's, or HEB will be able to sell bottles after noon. Bars will also open up at noon if you are looking for beer on tap.

What part of Houston are you staying in and do you have transportation? It will be easier for us to direct you if we know where you are staying.

Hay Merchant and Cottonwood open early on Sundays. Both places are incredibly chill at that time. Well, Cottonwood is always relaxed, Merchant can get a little crowded depending on what is going on. Though always wide open on Sunday afternoons, and usually a bottle share going on somewhere. I think Cottonwood does brunch, or they might be doing crawfish on Sundays now?

D&T Drive Inn does fried chicken that starts at 2 on Sundays, which is pretty awesome. Liberty Station and The Gingerman are great hangouts on an early afternoon as well. Plenty of other spots, but I think those are my favorites, especially for a Sunday of drinking.

Petrol Station is open at noon on Sunday. Good food, growler fills, great taplist.

Not sure yet. I do have transportation so anywhere within city limits and or nearby cities is in my range.

Cottonwood is my go to on Sundays. Great brunch and stellar tap list.

Southeast side Nobi is the go to place. If you end up in Galveston then Brew's Brothers or Bigfoot.

I have a hard time believing the BA Hellfighter part, but glad to see you're enjoying your trip and founds some good beers.
BTW, BA Hellfighter has a white label. If you found Hellfighter with a flame label that is the regular Hellfighter not the BA version. Enjoy the rest of your stay.

I guess I didn't know BA Hellfighter was tough to find!
All the beer survived the flight home so i'm a happy camper.

So I found out that I will be just south of downtown Houston. I will also be staying Monday night as well now so that will open out some of the places closed on Sundays. I'm staying at the Hilton on Lamar Ave. Not sure if that changes anyone's recommendations or not? A big thank you for all of your suggestions thus far!! -Sam

The beer guy at Specs was super cool when I was talking to him about MI beer and he was telling me about Texas beer. He went to the back and pulled out the Hellfighter. Said it was his last one and to let him know how I enjoyed it.
