Just got Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red IPA in new at the store and I see here on BA there is only Oskar Blues G'Knight Imperial Red Ale. Same name (G'Knight) same can color and design, just tacked on IPA at the end of the style. Did they just decide to relabel it because of its high IBU? Anyone familiar with Oskar Blues feel free to weigh in.

I weigh in by saying that it's the best Oskar Blues beer I've had ... regardless of the style.

Check this out: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/28907/8919 paying particular attention to the style and the notes. Perhaps the brewery just decided to go with the flow.

That's what confused me, the title for that beer is Imperial Red Ale, what I am now currently drinking (and enjoying a good bit) is classed as an Imperial Red IPA on the can.

Based on the Oskar Blues website (http://www.oskarblues.com/the-brews/gknight/) and the awards they are showing this winning in 2008, 2009, and 2010; this appears to be the same beer with a slight modification of the name.

I'm pretty sure it's the same exact beer, they just changed the name. Before that it used to be called Gordon..

They just slapped the IPA title on it because A) IPAs are selling like hotcakes right now, and B) It's always been a hop-forward beer.

    It's just good business.
