Exactly. The centuries old method of making something, putting it out on the shelf, and letting the masses
sort it out is the best way with a lot less headaches for the seller. Trouble starts when you try to please people,
    they'll actually turn on you.

Roads last night weren't too bad (coming down from NW). Looking OK today. Still reports of a couple roads out, but nothing like they were expecting.

And contrary to popular belief, not everyone was maxing out allocations.

I'm headed up first thing tomorrow. Hopefully there'll be some straggling bottles but I'm more excited now to get a few growlers of Abner

Yeah, that would've been impossible. They'd be gone already based on how many people went through the line. I'm more amazed there's still Elaborative. Only thing I can think of on that is that people gave up on the growler line, which is where it was being sold.

At least it's just a few people on a forum. Most of us are happy we even have the option to buy Hill Farmstead beers any time and whatever beer, at least that's what I imagine to be the case.

I would think a "make-up" would dictate trying to spread the love and goodwill as much as possible.

That said, I'm pretty sure that the past several releases have had limits ultimately set based on the number of people in line. So while I'm pretty bummed that it looks like I'll miss out on Civil Disobedience for the first time in 6 releases, I respect their decisions from a business perspective. The last release "sat around" in HF terms, and with two larger bottle releases coming up (Clara and Everett), I'm sure they'd like to have the shelf space.

Shaun, if it's not too much trouble, it'd be great and I'm sure others would appreciate it as well if you could give a similar update tonight.

Thanks for the heads up, Shaun! Missed this post earlier. Excited to get some Everett and Clara bottles next week on the 4th. (You folks do still plan to be open the 4th, correct? I called a couple weeks ago and asked and the answer was yes - just checking  )

That's not how I intended to use "make-up." That meaning would seem to imply that HFB somehow owes something to customers as a result of an extraordinary, once-in-a-generation storm. If the initial bottle release were scrubbed because Shaun and crew chose instead to go golfing, then yes, I think they would need to make it up to us loyal fans.

I meant "make-up" only in the sense of "replacement."

I hope you're able to enjoy some Civil Disobedience #6...

    Gotcha.

Me too. At least there are lots of bottles out there. Hopefully if I can't buy one from the source someone will be willing to trade one. Or two.

yep, I was on vacation on 9/11

trips are ruined every now and then by unforeseen circumstances - you have to write them off

I didn't ask the hotel to let me come back another time

I don't really get how it could sell out 20 minutes before they open

There is a line of more then 30 people outside the door at 11:30, they only have 30 bottles.

I assume they took a count from the people already in line.

Look at the two of you with the ying and yang HF glasses. Very nice. It is like the Evil HF and the Good HF.

My experience yesterday: got to HF at 11am, was #69 in line, did not max out my allotment (5-1-5). Wait once the line started was about 50 minutes. There was *no* line at 2pm. Then hopped over to the growler fill line where Vermotoise had a 2 bottle limit (not many ppl were buying these), Anna had a 6 bottle limit, and Elaborative was 2 bottles (there was a bit of a kerfuffle with "shelf beer" sales and growler sales going at the same time, but it was worked out). For those bottles, I did not buy my limit either. I was on the road by 3. So, yeah, 4 hours (2 hours in each line, which is standard for weekend growler fills) isn't too bad at all.

For all the n00bs: always bring at least $100 more than you think is necessary. People were trying to trade bottles b/c they had run out of cash.
