I woke up this morning and got a text from my buddy about his dog. Said she had an upper respiratory infection and so he took her in to the vet. Hit him up later and found out that her lungs collapsed and they had to intubate her and it was looking real grim for a bit with her. It looks like she's stabilized but isn't out the woods yet. It hit REAL close to home because of the bond I have with my dogs. Went over to have a beer with him and comfort him. I've never seen him look that helpless and it broke me down a bit.

I've said it multiple times that I wouldn't trade my dogs for all the whales in the world. Well, I'd trade all the whales(not really whales) I have for a dog. So I'm asking the BA community to help me help my buddy. For every $10 you donate, I will enter you in a raffle. If this gets over $1000. I will raffle off another box. My cellar isn't that deep so I apologize, but I will try making it worth donating, I want him to save this dog and don't want my friend to go hungry in the process. These are the best bottles I currently have in my cellar. The winner can choose between the 2 boxes, and if it goes over $1000 then there will be 2 winners.

    Box 1:
    BA Kopi Speedway
    KBS
    Mexican Cake
3 other locals I will add to make up a 6 bottle shipper.

Box 2: (if $1000 is raised up)
    2013 Huna
    2013 Parabola
    Birth of Tragedy
3 other locals I will add to make up a 6 bottle shipper.

I know there's a lot of these styles LIF's but every little bit helps. These are mostly beers I was saving for a special occasion. Well that occasion is here. I wouldn't love more than to send 2 boxes out and to have this dog running around healthy again.

Because of the way this LIF is, I'm gonna ask for all donations be sent to my Paypal at [email protected] and just include your BA name in the message. I will YouTube a video showing the raffle and announcing the winner. I'm gonna leave this open 2 weeks and am gonna hold the raffle Monday-Tuesday July 8/9. I will send out that same week. If there's any questions BM me.

    Cheers,
    Johnny

Bumping this up today and also got an update today, it looks like its Laryngeal Paralysis. They're going to an appointment with a specialist to look into the next step but it looks like its gonna be surgery to do "laryngeal tie back" depending how bad the paralysis is. He said that he woke up this morning and she couldn't walk and lost control of her bowels. The vet said this was normal since she lost so much oxygen and is still lacking oxygen but that she should show some recovery in the coming days as long as she's kept cool and crated all day except for restroom and to eat.

After a weekend with mostly crickets and 2 generous donations, I'm gonna change this up a bit. There'll be 2 winners if this goes over $500. And I may have a 3rd box if this goes over $1000. Gotta see if that box comes in time, but it will be a HF box including at least 1 of the new releases and an Anna if it arrives in time for the end of this LIF. I'm holding the raffle regardless of amount donated but I wanna give away as much beer as possible here to potentially help save this dogs life.

Bumping this with another update. Vet saw her today and said she's doing better. Surgery is still the most likely scenario but its not full laryngeal paralysis. Just need to keep the dog cool and not excited for the time being then see how she manages. Finally regaining control of her bowels as she's getting used to a sedative and walking more and more. I told my friend yesterday what I'm doing and he was speechless. He sent his thanks to the generous BA's who've donated including one who didn't send his BA name but I think I know who it is, just need to confirm. The dog seems to be in good spirits but is visibly still in pain and limited.

There's still a little less than 2 weeks, should have an update on what the 3rd box will contain should this LIF hit the $1000 mark. Thanks to everyone who's donated, my friend, his dog and I are eternally indebted to all of you.

Donated. My wife's dog Lucky died on Saturday. He liked meatballs, and didn't know how to bark or jump. Best to you and your friends.

Thanks to everyone who's donated so far. I saw my buddy last night. The dog is WORLDS better than she was Saturday evening but still obviously sick. She's walking now, albeit not much, peeing on her own and seems to be herself. Still doesn't have full bowel control. The vet said she should be "normal" soon but will still need surgery. She's lost weight, wont get to swim again and her bark has been reduced to a tiny squeak but that's a small price to pay.

So far we're almost to the $500 goal to ship out both boxes. If we can hit $1000 to help pay for this surgery I'll be also raffling off a 3rd box with some yet undetermined HF but at least 1 of the bottles released tomorrow

Alright, just wanted to bump this and add that if we hit the $1000 mark I will raffle off a third box containing a Madness & Civilization #2 plus some other stuff to fill a 6 shipper.

Again, the first winner has their choice of boxes, then 2nd winner then 3rd winner. If we hit $500 there will be 2 winners and if we hit $1000 there will be 3 and the Madness & Civilization 2 will be included.

(The HF bottle is being shipped to me, so pending any unforeseen problems with bottles breaking obviously. In either case, I will make it right if for whatever reason the bottle does break and replace it with something else limited and good)

And we are officially at $500. So I'm raffling off 2 boxes. I wanna raffle off a 3rd box and we have a little more than a week to get that done.

This community is awesome and I wish things like this got more shine than all the bad trader threads that seem to appear all the time. Thank you for everyone that has donated so far, I can say with certainty that I'm alot happier giving these beers away than I would've been drinking them.

Now lets hit $1000 so I can send someone a 300 bottle count Hill Farmstead bottle

Is this the new way to auction off beers now? I've seen so many of these tragic stories lately. If a dog is legitimately in distress, and somehow money will make this guy feel better, then bravo on the gesture.

If you've been watching the obvious trend of these sorts of things, then I say "Well Played Good Sir" My friend's sister's boyfriend's mom's car was just about to be stolen too.

Man, it takes a slimy person to even try to capitalize on the generosity of the community for personal gain. The dog went into distress and needs a surgery. I gave my boy $300 out of my pocket which was all I had at the time but I knew it wasn't enough. If that makes it me auctioning off beer, then so be it. I'd rather do a good deed for a dog than drink beer any day.

I have no idea why I replied to the troll post, and I usually enjoy your snarky posts.

It does. And I in know way think you're doing that. Pointing out the unsettling fact that allowing these deeds of good faith to be done publicly ultimately allows the opportunity for the bottom feeders to eventually decide to capitalize on the good nature of BAs like yourself in the future. I even donated anonymously, I just feel ultimately when someone without the good track record such as yourself or the others who have done similar acts of good faith, such as those involved in past dealings of large international trades gone bad etc. starts a similar LIF, people will have been left open to the opportunity of being duped into feeling like they're doing a genuine good deed, when in fact they're helping someone profit. Again, I don't question your motives, I question the precedence that this new trend is setting.

Mark it in the books, a serious post.
