I'll be heading up to the Mammoth Lakes area next week to do some camping and hot springing in the Long Valley Caldera area. Will also be there for the fireworks show from Bishop while hot tubbing in the springs there. It's been 5 years since my last visit to the area and to Mammoth Brewery. Any recommendations while in Mammoth Lakes to stop in for a cold one or to pick up a bottle or two. I plan to visit the Brewery again. I think my last Mammoth beer was 5 years ago. I will be bringing an ice chest full of Enjoy By's, Ruin Ten's, PtE's, BWBBQnB's and others. But I will stop in town once or twice to pick up whatever supplies I need as the days go by. Thanks. . . .
I too will be up for the 4th and am looking for advice. Based on reviews, Mammoth Brewing doesn't look promising.

Mammoth isn't bad. Most of their regular beers are at least drinkable and they occasionally make some very drinkable beers. At least check them out and give the brewery a visit.
Dont worry about reviews. I visited there in Oct '12 and thought they had a pretty solid line up of beer. Before that I had never even heard of them! I really liked their Blondi Bock and Devils Post Pale. Double Nut Brown is a super drinkable beer. Its definately worth a stop while in town.
Don't miss the Clocktower Cellar, its only a few blocks from the brewery tasting room. Check for hours before visiting. During the winter they open late and close early. I have visited the brewery and the caldera hot springs. I wont be going back to the springs but I will go back to the brewery. Enjoy the 8000 FT elevation buzz kicker!
I was just out there, the Mammoth stuff is much better than I had expected out there, really enjoyed it and perfect after hiking up above tioga pass!
People are crazy, Mammoth makes great beer. They have, however, improved in the past few years, so old reviews do not reflect their current quality. Have fun in the various springs, I loved that trip and hit a bunch of spots that aren't exactly well known.
Enjoyed their beers when I was there last August. Some decent stuff to drink. Will be there again 8/3.
I have noticed that when you look at Mammoths reviews it seems like their old stuff wasnt very good. However when I was there I really liked their whole line up. Like I said in my previous post, the Blondi Bock was really good and I wish I would have brought home a couple bottles.
Back from a very refreshing trip in the Long Valley Caldera hot springs. We met up with a couple from San Diego who brought up some growlers of ABC Pure Hoppiness! Pure happiness.Made a stop into Mammoth of the 4th. Big mistake. It was just after the 4th parade and it was still busy. Picked up supplies and stopped in the Mammoth Brewing Co for a flight + one. Last visit was over 5 years ago when they were doing taste out of bottles. A big difference in the atmosphere for sure. Epic and 395 tasted the same for me, average. But like I said it's been over 5 years. I did like their Brown Nut and their seasonal Devils Postpile. Bought bottles of them to bring home. A very "do absolutely nothing trip, but trip in the valley." Side note. . . .Stone's Enjoy 7-4-13 was still tasting awesome! Even did a side by side with the 8-2-13.
