I have a friend coming from San Diego to WI and she'll be bringing some beers for me. My question is, what good beer are there that's easily accessible (without rarity being an issue) at a bottle shop. I'm not talking Pliny or other RR's (believe me I love this stuff) but stuff that can be easily picked up without conducting a manhunt. What is great there?

Are you talking about what can be picked up in most liquor stores/BevMos, or what can be picked up in some of the better shops? E.g., you probably won't find Logsdon Seizoen Bretta in much of the former, but easily in the latter (including Whole Foods and other hoity toity grocery stores). Which, by the way, is definitely a beer worth picking up.

I'm thinking the store Bottlecraft. I asked for easy ones to get like Speedway stout but wanted any suggestions. Thanks for the tip! Is Logsdon Seizon Bretta available at Bottlecraft?

Looking at your wants, she can probably find Oaked and Chocolate Yeti.

Yup! I was there at the new North Park location about an hour before I made that post, and I saw Seizoen Bretta, Oaked Seizoen Bretta (that’ll cost you an extra $10), Almanac Reserve Series 3, Parabola B4 (1 bottle limit), several beers from Prairie, Framboise de Amarosa, some Jester Kings, etc. This list needs updating (e.g., they’re out of Almanac 2 and 4) but gives you sort of a decent overview of what’s in stock.

Where will she be? Bottle craft or Bike & Vine or Best Damn will have a ton.

Your best bet is to look those shops up.and see what they have then send the friend in.

How much was Parabola?? I have a bottle, but wouldn't mind having another . Same for cost of Seizoen Bretta? Thanks your input was helpful. I've been on their website but for whatever reason, I could not view their bottle list.

Yeah they held back some. Which works for me since I got shut out of the initial wave.

NP! =) Parabola was $15 flat, Seizoen Bretta was $11.something.

Also, ditto DrtyBvrJuce’s post about Bine and Vine, and the nice thing is that their online inventory is pretty accurate.

Quick question...any Black Butte 25th Anniversary available in San Diego stores or locations just outside? I called BottleCraft yesterday but they were sold out :slight_frown:

The Whole Foods in Hillcrest had some XXV in stock on Sunday. I was able to get a bottle there by asking one of the workers for it.

Best Damn Beer Shop had it. Jimbo's Liquor (Genesee south of Balboa and just south of the DMV) advertised having it, and they probably will still have some around, albeit at a slightly higher price.

Hmmm, must have posted in the wrong forum, nothing good out here. Might as well just leave the beers on the shelf for locals to drink, save yourself some money.

Palm Springs Liquor is wonderful. Their selection has doubled in the last year or so too.
