This has been a want of mine for quite a while. What would it take? i'm just looking for one 12oz bottle of the 2011 release (most recent?). Would Dark Lord '13 do it. Would kuhnhenn BB4D work (1:1)?

    thanks

I can't speak for folks holding, however I do know from experience. Aquiring this beer may be somewhat difficult. The next batch is set to be released in 2016 so peeps have a death grip on this sucker. I would think you might have a shot if you combined the DL and BB4D with a tree house growler you might have a leg to stand on. With the way things have been going you might want to try and settle with cherry Adam which is just as fantastic and released every year. Won't have an issue $4$ I would think. If you wanted to 1:1 with something I would think hill farmstead mad + civ # 1 might work. Good luck. In my opinion all the hair of the dog beers are well worth trading for.

    Nope.

Only the first 60 people in line got to buy AftW, and it immediately rocketed in trade value. You're going to need to offer something more rare and most likely over $4$.

I get this, but here's the thing I don't understand. It appears that bottles are available for purchase for on site consumption. Why not spread the love to folks not privy to drink one at all? The bottles I have attained were reasonable trades however none were from PDXers. It's just not fair :slight_frown: no beef or anything it just saddens me that's all.

Mine will be consumed by myself and friends. Period. That is my opinion on its trade value after trying two of them. What beer could I get back as good is the reason?

Most of us spread the love to regular trade partners already, and we don't always want to spend 20 on it at the pub when we've already got some. (Though I'll buy one when trade partners come to town). Also, since the 2016 batch is in ardbeg barrels, I expect a significant difference in taste, so the remaining bourbon barreled ones are tightly held.

    Cherry Rye'ish value.

4 x bb4d is closer than 1 x for an Adam from the wood.

I will accept your reasoning as I cry into a glass of bourbon Fred. The soy sauce might have went better with my chicken tonight, but oh well! Damn hair of the dog for making such quality beers! Glad I got to at least try a few, I guess I should have sat on them longer. Unfortunately there is a monster in my basement that eats any hair of the dog left in the same spot for longer than a week (that what I tell my wife anyways!)

I sent a bunch of bottles to trading partners. I've also traded some for lambics (mostly Fou' Foune), included some in BIF packages, and one or two as extras. I'm holding onto the rest for the same reasons mentioned above.

I've had Matt, AftW and CAftW

AftW is quite possibly my favorite beer ever. Just so darn good.

I guess after some time to think I do see more clearly that this beer was most likely passed around when it was released (which I obviously missed). I forget that it's been more than 2 years since the release. I wish I could fast forward till 2016 or take a vacation to visit the northwest again!

I have traded for 3. 1 went to my Hill Farmstead trading partner and the other 2 were consumed at great tastings.

    Wish I had more.

Yeah you're pretty short on those options. DL+ something else solid might do it. BB4D isn't in the ballpark. This beer has traded high since release...

Honestly, it'd be easier to plan a vacation to Portland and drink AftW and all their other limited beers at the brewery. You won't regret it.

Maybe I'm really biased here, but you should just trade for Matt instead. That beer is good beyond reason.

Thisss (IMO, of course). I drank them side by side at the source, and while AftW was great, Matt was AMAZEBALLS. Probably a top 5 beer of all time for me. Still, HotD absolutely nails the barrel character in all the BA stuff I've had from them, regardless.

This is complete truth. A night out at Cascade's Barrelhouse and HotD's brewpub is a pretty stellar combination.
