Had a bottle of the Double Stout last night

Cracking beer, if a little pricey at £4.25 a bottle, although my CAMRA card brought that down to a more respectable £3.60 ish

Drank at room temperature (none of that refrigeration nonsense for a 'trad' English 7.4% stout) and it was spot on. Bitter chocolate and smoke !

Anyone else had this or the other past masters beer (I think there's just the one other at present?)

    From the Brewery shop

I pass Turnham Green on the tube most days heading to/from work and it is but a 10-ish minute walk from there

What I didn't realise was that on display of a CAMRA card you get 15% off ANYTHING in the shop !

I also picked up 2 of the reserve series, '99 and '04, plus a Marble Manchester Old Ale, 7 and a bit % in a 750ml corked bottle!

    Well worth a visit!

Mmm it sounds lovely. I always meant to try more Fullers beers as they were always on my doorstep.

Fullers is your neighborhood brewery. That's awesome.

The only thing on the tube here is The Walking Dead. Which does happen to kick ass.

I've never seen any of Fuller's more unusual output this far north. Although I might try and grab a 2011 Reserve from Waitrose when I'm there next.

It's not my local brewery as such, Ascot Ales, Windsor & Eton and Hogsback are the three nearest to me (all under 10 miles)

The Fullers brewery just happens to be a 30 minute diversion on my usual route home from work which is handy!

Plus you've got the Mawsons Arms, the brewery tap right on the corner of the site

8 Fullers on cask and obviously in as good nick as you'll ever get !

No I don't tend to see much Fullers out of the Herts/Bucks/Berks/Surrey and West/Central London area, other than Pride as a guest, plus the other regulars such as Chiswick, ESB and occasionally Golden Pride or Porter as guests

The shop had both past masters, 1845, Golden Pride, Reserves from '99 through to '10 with the exception of the sold out '02 plus all the regulars

I've only had 5 Fuller's varieties, but they have all been stellar. I imagine I could drink that brewer alone and be happy. Especially fresh on cask.

You could get through half their range in the brewery tap

I made notes last week when I had a quick half there last week for a future review

On cask were: - Pride, Chiswick, ESB, Bengal Lancer, Front Row, Discovery, HSB (Gales)

They also had a good bottle range as well

Yes, had this one and was pleasantly surprised. A real thick natural stout with all the flavor coming from the malts. Not as good as my fav from Samuel Smith but damn good!

There's currently just one other Past Masters beer: XX (though it's really XXK, for some reason the marketing people changed the name).

The third beer in the series will be brewed soon. It's something I've hoped they would brew since the project started.

Both the Double Stout and the Strong Ale were great. We were lucky to get a small shippment here in Amsterdam a while back. Fuller's makes some great brews, and the Past Masters series seems to be following suit.

    Cheers,
    Jeff

Are you sworn to secrecy Ron or might you be able to squeeze out a few drops of info on the third beer?

Jealous of all the delicious fuller's you can get in Europe. I was lucky enough to have their 2009 vintage ale, and absolutely loved it. I've been mostly drinking american craft beers, but recently have had a good amount of European brews as well and have not been disappointed at all. Jungle Jims in cinci, ohio makes it easy to get some of the over seas brews. Hobgoblin is probably my favorite Euro beer so far.

Really? Wow I never really thought Hobgoblin was anything special if i'm honest.

That's the thing though, we don't get anything from overseas fresh, there's never much variety, and what we get here can really be beaten by many of the American breweries. But yet I here all the time about these different euro beers that are just amazing, and it makes me wonder what I'm missing out on.
